DEE Development Engineers shares declined nearly 5% on Tuesday, August 4, despite the company reporting robust year-on-year growth in Q1 FY27. The engineering solutions provider delivered a 22.3% increase in net profit to ₹16.15 crore from ₹13.20 crore in the corresponding quarter last year, while revenue from operations surged 31.6% to ₹294.46 crore. The stock movement reflects investor concerns over sequential performance despite strong underlying business fundamentals.
The company reported a 41.89% quarter-on-quarter decline in consolidated net profit to ₹16.08 crore in Q1 FY27 from ₹27.68 crore in Q4 FY26. However, on a year-on-year basis, net profit increased 22.41% compared to the corresponding quarter of the previous year. EBITDA grew 38.7% to ₹49.75 crore with EBITDA margin expanding to 16.9% from 16% in the corresponding quarter last year, reflecting improved operational performance and cost management. The margin expansion suggests better cost management and enhanced operating efficiency despite a higher scale of operations.
Speaking to CNBC-TV18 in June, the company's management revealed that the primary objective of recent fundraising was to reduce debt. Of the proceeds, around ₹225 crore will be used for debt repayment, while the remaining ₹75 crore has been earmarked for general corporate purposes. Following the repayment, the company's term loan is expected to reduce to around ₹140 crore, which management plans to repay gradually. The lower debt burden is expected to result in annual interest cost savings of nearly ₹25 crore, significantly improving financial efficiency.
DEE Development Engineers is targeting order inflows of around ₹2,000 crore in FY27, with a significant portion expected from export markets including the US, Europe and Japan. The company operates seven manufacturing facilities across India and Thailand, while exports accounted for 63% of its FY26 order book. As a specialized engineering company providing process piping solutions to sectors such as power, oil and gas, and other industrial segments, the company's diversified sector exposure across energy and industrial segments positions it well for long-term growth.
