CleanMax Enviro Energy Solutions has achieved a significant milestone with CRISIL assigning a corporate credit rating of 'CRISIL AA/Stable' and Non-Convertible Debentures (NCDs) rating of 'CRISIL AA/Stable' for an amount of ₹2,500 crore. This marks CleanMax's first rating from CRISIL, representing an external validation of the company's business fundamentals, financial discipline, and market leadership in the C&I renewable energy segment. The rating reflects the company's strong credit profile and operational excellence in the renewable energy sector.
CleanMax has positioned itself at the intersection of India's artificial intelligence infrastructure boom and renewable energy sector growth. According to Kuldeep Jain, Founder and Managing Director, Data & AI has emerged as the fastest-growing business segment, with nearly 42% of the company's contracted renewable power sales capacity now catering to Data & AI customers. The segment has grown nearly tenfold over the past two years, driven by the rapid expansion of hyperscalers and data centres that operate round-the-clock operations. As reported by ETMarkets, every 1 GW of data centre IT load can translate into nearly 1.5 GW of continuous power demand, requiring around 6 GW of renewable capacity along with significant energy storage investments. The opportunity is enormous, with companies driving this build-out having made carbon-neutrality commitments across their entire value chain.
CleanMax has demonstrated robust financial growth with its contracted renewable power sales capacity reaching nearly 6 GW as of June 2026, with 3.5 GW operational and 2.5 GW contracted and under execution. The company's total contracted capacity including RE Services segment stood at 6.8 GW as of June 2026, with 1.6 GW contracted during the trailing twelve months. According to the company's guidance, FY27 targets 1.5 GW of capacity additions and FY28 minimum run-rate EBITDA of ₹3,000 crore. The company's weighted average cost of project borrowing has fallen from 9.2% as of April 2025 to 8.4% as of June 2026, following a CARE Ratings upgrade to AA-/Stable from A+/Positive. This reflects a broader multi-year trend of improving credit quality as the portfolio has scaled and diversified.
CleanMax has secured significant partnerships with global technology giants including Google (125 MW), Meta (900 MW), and a ₹100 crore co-investment partnership with Apple. The company holds a 35%+ market share of deals signed since 2024 with hyperscalers and has completed more than 40 deals across multiple customers with colocation providers. As reported by ETMarkets, the portfolio includes repeat business with STT GDC (130 MW+ relationship) and deals with Iron Mountain, PDG, L&T data centre, STT, NTT, Equinix, Cisco among others. The company serves 593 C&I customers and expects continued expansion in both traditional C&I and Data & AI segments. These partnerships reflect the compounding nature of being the preferred partner, as customers expand, CleanMax grows with them.
Technology companies are increasingly demanding larger, longer-duration and expansion-led clean energy roadmaps that require integrated solutions across wind, solar, hybrids and newer procurement structures. According to Jain, these customers are looking for round-the-clock renewable power rather than plain-vanilla solar, driving demand towards hybrid and open-access Group Captive models. The company's conventional C&I demand alone has more than doubled from 1.6 GW to 3.5 GW, with the corporate renewable energy market still underpenetrated, accounting for less than 10% of corporate India's power consumption. The value proposition includes renewable energy reducing power costs by 30-45% while helping businesses achieve ESG and Net Zero ambitions. Operations run 24x7, so they need scale delivered through wind-solar hybrids, and increasingly through newer instruments like VPPAs and I-RECs that let them meet enterprise-wide decarbonisation goals across geographies.
