According to the latest unaudited financial results reported by Austin Engineering Company Limited, the company experienced a significant decline in profitability during Q1 FY27. The company's standalone net profit after tax fell 34% year-on-year to ₹1.00 crore, down from ₹1.52 crore in Q1 FY26, while consolidated PAT declined more sharply by 39% to ₹94 lakh compared to ₹1.53 crore in the corresponding period last year. The results were approved by the Board of Directors on August 11, 2026, and reflect broader headwinds in the industrial bearing sector where demand normalization has impacted top-line growth.
The company's financial performance showed mixed results with revenue contraction across both standalone and consolidated operations. Standalone revenue from operations decreased 8% year-on-year to ₹312.01 lakh, down from ₹338.33 lakh in Q1 FY26, while consolidated revenue from operations also declined 10% to ₹322.82 lakh, against ₹358.69 lakh in the previous year. The decline in revenue was accompanied by a rise in total expenses, which pressured margins despite some cost containment efforts.
According to the latest financial data, the company's operational performance showed margin compression despite some cost management efforts. Total expenses rose to ₹3,025.52 lakh from ₹3,252.71 lakh, indicating some cost containment despite the revenue dip, while finance costs remained low at ₹8.13 lakh. The company's profit before tax on standalone basis decreased to ₹158.40 lakh from ₹164.38 lakh, and consolidated PBT fell to ₹155.20 lakh from ₹165.91 lakh year-on-year. The divergence between revenue decline and sharper profit drop highlights margin compression, with fixed costs not scaling down proportionally with sales.
In a significant strategic move to diversify its international footprint, the Board approved the acquisition of a minority equity stake between 15% and 20% in a foreign private limited company engaged in trading and supply of industrial bearings in the European market. The acquisition, valued at an undisclosed cash consideration, aims to establish a strategic presence in Europe, enhance business development opportunities, and facilitate potential synergies. The transaction is expected to be completed within six months and does not constitute a related-party transaction, with no promoter or group company holding interest in the target entity.
