Allied Blenders and Distillers has secured a Telangana licence to manufacture around 4.4 million bulk litres (BL) of malt spirits annually at its Rangapur facility. According to the latest regulatory filing, the company received the licence from the Commissioner of Prohibition and Excise, Telangana, Hyderabad on September 15, 2026, at 12:00 noon. The licence has been granted to permit the company to manufacture malt spirits for potable purposes at its facility situated at Rangapur Village, Pebbair Mandal, Wanaparthy District, Telangana. This licence will enable Allied Blenders to manufacture malt spirit in-house for the first time, as the company has previously sourced malt spirit from third-party distillers to meet its production requirements. The licence is valid in accordance with applicable provisions of law, subject to compliance with the terms and conditions specified.
Allied Blenders and Distillers has approved up to ₹115 crore for its subsidiary Minakshi Agro Industries LLP to establish a malt distillery with around 3 million bulk litres (MN BL) per year capacity and a maturation warehouse in Aurangabad, Maharashtra. According to reports from CNBC TV18, the Management Committee of the Board of Directors approved the investment at its meeting held on September 11, 2026. The project is expected to be completed by Q3 FY28, with the investment to be funded through additional capital contribution or financial assistance, including external debt supported by a corporate guarantee through appropriate banking channels.
The Telangana licence will support the company's raw material requirements and enhance operational efficiencies by enabling in-house manufacturing. As reported by CNBC TV18, the licence will also enable Allied Blenders to produce and develop its own single malt whisky products, supporting its premium product portfolio and providing opportunities for future growth. This strategic move represents a significant step in diversifying the company's product offerings and targeting the premium spirits market segment through both in-house production capabilities and the planned Maharashtra facility.
Separately, the Management Committee approved an additional capital contribution or financial assistance of up to ₹10 crore to Minakshi Agro Industries LLP to meet cost overruns in previously approved projects. According to CNBC TV18, the ongoing projects include a bottling unit and distillery, with the bottling project expected to be completed by Q3 FY27 and the distillery by Q3 FY28. The additional ₹10 crore investment is required to meet cost overruns arising primarily from higher prices of key metals and the marginal expansion of the bottling hall and mezzanine area to accommodate longer automated bottling lines.
In the April–June quarter (Q1FY27), Allied Blenders and Distillers reported revenue of ₹979 crore, representing a 6% year-on-year increase from ₹923 crore in the previous year. However, the company's consolidated net profit declined 12.98% to ₹49.22 crore despite the revenue growth, as reported by Business Standard. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation rose 3.5% to ₹115.5 crore from ₹111.6 crore year-on-year. The EBITDA margin stood at 11.8% during the quarter, compared with 12.1% in the same period last year, reflecting a marginal contraction in profitability despite revenue growth. In the latest trading session, shares of Allied Blenders and Distillers rose 0.40% to currently trade at ₹634.75 on the BSE, reflecting positive market sentiment following the licence announcement.
Allied Blenders and Distillers has launched 'The Indian Edit', a premium whisky product, amid sustained growth momentum in India's premium whisky segment. As reported by The Economic Times, the company stated that the launch comes as consumers increasingly seek quality, distinctiveness and a more evolved drinking experience. 'The Indian Edit' will be available in 750 ml, 500 ml and 180 ml formats across key markets, with Managing Director Amar Sinha describing it as a strong articulation of the company's ambition to lead rather than simply participate in India's premiumisation journey. The company had earlier guided for a 17% EBITDA margin by FY28, but Sinha now believes it can do better.
