Germany-based artificial-intelligence robotics company Agile Robots has acquired a majority stake in Bengaluru-based XNG Automation, strengthening its position in India's industrial and warehouse-automation market. According to reports from The Hindu BusinessLine, Agile India managing director Saravanan Solaiappan confirmed the acquisition without sharing financial details of the deal. The strategic move aims to enhance local production of automation solutions in India's growing manufacturing sector, providing Agile Robots with wider access to customers in India's expanding manufacturing sector.
XNG Automation brings around 200 employees and specializes in factory and intralogistics automation, as reported by The Hindu BusinessLine. The company demonstrates deep expertise in system integration and machine vision across multiple industries including consumer electronics, automotive, and electric vehicles. Notable clients include Bosch and Toyota, providing Agile Robots with established relationships in key manufacturing sectors. Through the transaction, Agile Robots will combine its AI-powered robotics portfolio with XNG's experience in designing and deploying factory and warehouse-automation systems.
According to the company statement, Agile Robots supplies automation solutions to major companies including Foxconn and Tata Electronics in India, both of which are engaged in Apple iPhone production. As reported by The Hindu BusinessLine, the acquisition aligns with Agile Robots' requirement for immediately scaling up local production capabilities in the Indian market. The latest transaction gives Agile Robots a larger presence in India at a time when manufacturers and logistics companies are increasing their adoption of robotics, automated material-handling systems and AI-enabled production technologies.
Executive Director Rory Sexton from Agile Robots emphasized that the deal will enable the company to access and serve more customers through the combination of advanced robotic hardware and AI software with XNG's deep integration expertise. The acquisition is expected to provide the German company with wider access to customers in India's expanding manufacturing sector. Founded in 2018 as a spin-off from the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Munich, Agile Robots has installed over 20,000 robotics solutions worldwide across various sectors, with its portfolio covering industrial robots, automation software, autonomous mobile robots and humanoid systems.
The XNG Automation investment follows Agile Robots' strategic research partnership with Google DeepMind announced in March 2026, which is focused on integrating Google DeepMind's Gemini Robotics foundation models into industrial robotic systems. Agile Robots has also expanded through acquisitions, completing the acquisition of the European and North American assets of thyssenkrupp Automation Engineering in April, which now operates as Krause Automation within the Agile Robots portfolio. The company operates in India with a facility in Tamil Nadu for producing AI-enabled robotic systems, providing services ranging from robot hardware and AI software to factory-system integration.
