Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL) has operationalised a 50 MW solar power project at Khavda in Gujarat, further expanding its renewable energy portfolio and bringing its total operational renewable generation capacity close to the 20 GW milestone. According to an exchange filing, the project was commissioned through its wholly owned step-down subsidiary, Adani Hybrid Energy Jaisalmer Five Ltd. Based on the necessary regulatory clearances, the plant was operationalised and commenced power generation from June 1, 2026 at 11:50 AM. As per multiple reports, this development marks a significant step in AGEL's ongoing expansion of its renewable energy portfolio, with the company demonstrating its commitment to timely project execution and contributing to the clean energy transition.
With the commissioning of the latest project, AGEL's total operational renewable generation capacity has reached 19,835.8 MW. The company's total operational battery energy storage system (BESS) capacity stands at 3,366 MWh. Earlier in April, AGEL said its operational capacity rose 35% year-on-year to 19.3 GW in FY26 after adding 5.1 GW of greenfield renewable energy capacity during the financial year. The company operationalised 4,613 MW of capacity at Khavda alone, including solar, wind and hybrid projects. These figures underscore AGEL's significant contribution to India's renewable energy targets through its substantial operational capacity.
During FY26, AGEL commissioned 3,412 MW of solar projects, 683 MW of wind projects and 956 MW of hybrid projects. The company also operationalised 1,376 MWh of battery energy storage capacity at Khavda, which the company described as among the world's largest single-location BESS deployments. Energy sales increased 34% year-on-year to 37,567 million units in FY26, supported by the sharp rise in operational capacity. This performance demonstrates AGEL's ability to execute large-scale renewable energy projects while maintaining operational excellence across its portfolio.
Despite the renewable energy capacity addition, Adani Group stocks witnessed selling pressure during Monday's trading session. Among the listed entities, Adani Total Gas emerged as the biggest loser, with share price falling around 5.12% to close at ₹733 per share on the BSE. Adani Power was the second-biggest laggard, with share price declining around 4.31% to ₹233 per share. Other Adani Group companies, including Adani Enterprises, Adani Green Energy, and Adani Energy Solutions, also closed the day in negative territory. The decline came despite billionaire Gautam Adani's comments regarding the group's legal challenges in the United States, where he stated the group has moved past its US legal issues and is accelerating investments across energy and infrastructure sectors.
