IDFC FIRST Bank has launched a Fixed Deposit-backed Business Multiplier Metal Credit Card specifically designed for founders, entrepreneurs and business owners. According to reports from The Hindu BusinessLine and Chennai Patrika, the card was introduced on Friday and is positioned as a purpose-built alternative for growth-stage businesses that currently rely on debit or retail cards for operational spending. The bank has officially announced this latest financial product as specifically designed to cater to the evolving needs of small and rapidly growing businesses, addressing the challenge of managing daily operational expenses and maintaining healthy cash flow.
The credit card offers a credit limit up to 100% of the Fixed Deposit value, with the FD starting from ₹50,000. As reported by The Hindu BusinessLine, the card features a joining fee of ₹1,000 and an annual fee of ₹1,000, though the annual fee is waived upon achieving annual spends of ₹5 lakh. The card displays both the business name and the cardholder's name to help keep business and personal expenses separate, with the business name appearing alongside the cardholder's name on the physical metal card. This dual branding feature is intended to strengthen the professional identity of the business during every transaction.
According to the bank statement reported by The Hindu BusinessLine and Chennai Patrika, the card is designed to help businesses manage cash flow more efficiently, improve expense tracking, and build a stronger credit profile over time. The card offers 45 days interest-free credit and zero forex markup for international transactions, along with rewards on everyday business spends. The card can be used across a wide range of business-related activities, offering rewards where businesses spend the most, including purchasing office supplies, funding digital marketing campaigns, paying for software subscriptions, managing business travel expenses, handling employee-related expenditures, and making international vendor payments. Users will benefit from enhanced reward points on UPI payments and transactions made within business-specific categories, ensuring every spend adds value back to the company.
As reported by The Hindu BusinessLine and Chennai Patrika, the card is targeted at businesses that currently rely on debit or retail cards for operational spending. The product aims to provide these companies with a more specialized solution that combines flexible working capital access with enhanced expense management capabilities. The card serves as a bridge for emerging enterprises to access formal credit and manage their working capital more efficiently, while the dedicated business credit limit that's entirely separate from individual personal credit limits is crucial for business owners who want to keep their personal and professional expenses distinct. This separation ensures that business spending doesn't impact personal credit utilization, thereby simplifying financial management and ensuring professionalism in corporate transactions.
