Company insights, generated from the most recent coverage.
Standalone Q2 FY27 profit of ₹1,386 Cr exceeds the reported Q1 or Q2 profit of every listed mid-cap private peer shown except Indian Bank (₹3,541 Cr). On absolute earnings scale Federal now sits closer to Indian Bank than to IDFC First (₹1,148 Cr) or Yes Bank (₹1,072 Cr).
P/B of 2.15 is the second-highest in its mid-cap private peer set, behind only AU SFB at 3.81 and well above IDFC First (1.40), RBL (1.34), Indian Bank (1.41) and Yes Bank (1.09). A richly valued stock is cheap acquisition currency — a share swap costs Federal far less per rupee of target value than it would cost a 1.1–1.4x P/B peer.
Business banking growth slowed to about 7% in Q1 as management prioritised portfolio health, then recovered to 12.39% in Q2. The CEO's admission that 'one or two segments need sharper execution' — without naming them — leaves business banking as the most likely self-identified gap.
