Wipro has integrated an AI-powered conversational agent, iSkill, into its AI Academy to help employees find learning courses based on their roles, skills and previous certifications. According to reports from Business Standard, the AI Academy was built three years ago to make more than 240,000 associates AI-ready. The platform provides 144 persona-based learning paths and hundreds of AI and cloud courses from thousands of partner platforms.
As reported by Business Standard, employees previously had access to several learning paths but often found it difficult to decide where to start. "While there were plenty of learning paths, employees were not sure where to start. The experience was fragmented, dependent on search and reading through course descriptions. Only a small percentage asked for suggestions and adoption suffered," said Surya Prakash Mohapatra, General Manager and AI Learning Head – Talent Skilling, Wipro. The new system addresses this challenge through personalized recommendations based on individual employee data.
According to Business Standard, iSkill was developed from December 2025 and works through Microsoft 365 Copilot and Teams. After an employee signs in through their Wipro Teams identity, it accesses information on their role, band, function and skills, along with their completed AI and cloud certifications. An A Power BI semantic model retrieves the data, while iSkill searches the SharePoint-hosted Academy catalogue to recommend relevant courses. The system includes access controls with restricted access through validated security groups and role-based controls preventing managers from accessing individual employee data.
As reported by Business Standard, since its launch, iSkill has recorded more than 7,500 conversations and has had over 100 active unique learners. Additionally, 96 per cent of AI Advanced+ courses at the Academy were completed between January 2025 and March 2026. Mohapatra noted that "As an L&D function, we now have greater confidence that there is genuine alignment between learning and business priorities. The recommendations are role-focused."
