Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has launched a Gemini Experience Centre (GEC) in Kolkata in collaboration with Google Cloud, marking a significant expansion of its AI innovation capabilities. According to TCS's latest announcement, this third such facility in India follows existing centres in Chennai and Bengaluru, as part of the company's global expansion of industry-focused AI innovation hubs. The new centre will enable enterprises in retail, consumer packaged goods, and travel, tourism and hospitality sectors to co-create, test and scale AI-led solutions using Google Cloud's Gemini models and infrastructure.
The Kolkata facility will showcase agentic AI-enabled solutions across store operations, supply chain management, omni-channel retail and customer service through immersive demonstrations and co-innovation workshops. As reported by TCS, the company has developed 3,000 industry and context-aware AI agents using Gemini Enterprise, including specialised solutions for retail, consumer goods, travel, transportation and hospitality sectors. This expansion builds on TCS's existing AI Solutions Lab in Bengaluru, which leverages NVIDIA AI Infrastructure and serves as a physical AI hub designed to accelerate development and deployment of AI solutions across mobility and manufacturing sectors.
TCS has announced ambitious expansion plans, targeting 10 Gemini Experience Centres globally by the end of 2026, including four in India. According to TCS, this global expansion represents a significant commitment to helping enterprises move from AI pilots to enterprise-scale adoption through closer collaboration with technology partners. The initiative reflects the company's strategy to establish comprehensive AI innovation infrastructure across key markets, building on its existing partnerships with both NVIDIA and Google Cloud to serve diverse industry sectors.
The launch comes amid a rising investment boom in AI-powered automation, digital twins and software-defined systems by global manufacturers and mobility companies to improve productivity, reduce costs and shorten product development cycles. Among the solutions showcased across TCS's AI facilities are TCS DriveSphere, an AI-enabled mobility platform for software-defined vehicles, AI-powered mobility and autonomous systems, Vision AI applications, digital twin environments and smart manufacturing solutions for predictive maintenance and process optimisation. The facilities support a range of applications from autonomous driving systems and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) to predictive maintenance, automated quality inspection, digital twins and agentic AI for industrial operations.
TCS reported strong financial performance in Q1FY27, with annualised AI revenue at $2.6 billion and AI serving as a key driver of deal wins.
