Gurugram-based STL Networks has emerged as the lowest bidder for a ₹249.8 crore contract floated by RailTel Corporation of India for the deployment of cloud infrastructure at its data centre and disaster recovery site. According to a regulatory filing on Tuesday (September 29), the contract, which includes taxes, covers the design, supply, installation, testing, commissioning, configuration, integration, migration and deployment of the cloud infrastructure solution. The bid was issued by RailTel under tender number RAILTEL/TENDER/OT/CO/ITP/2026-27/DC – DR Infra/018, dated June 25, 2026, and is classified as a domestic contract. However, being the lowest bidder does not by itself mean that the contract has been formally awarded.
Sterlite Technologies Limited (STL) announced on Thursday, September 24, the launch of pre-terminated fiber trunk assemblies ranging from 48F to 6912F as part of its Neuralis data centre product range. According to the latest regulatory filing, these cables are specifically designed for hyperscale and enterprise data centres navigating an unprecedented surge in bandwidth demand driven by AI, cloud, and high-performance computing workloads. The new product line combines ultra-high fiber density with a slim cable form factor, enabling operators to route more capacity through the same pathways, trays and conduits without compromising bend performance or long-term reliability.
The range covers two distinct product lines with different applications. The first line carries between 48 and 576 fibres for connections within a single data hall, meeting ANSI/ICEA S-83-596 and UL cable safety standards. These cables are 5.8 mm to 12.2 mm thick depending on fibre count. The second line is designed for longer links between buildings or across a campus, carrying between 144 and 6,912 fibres with an outer diameter of only 32 mm for the largest version. The pre-terminated assemblies feature premium factory-controlled optical performance on a variety of connectors that enable fast, economical installation without requiring on-site connector installation by engineers.
According to the company's exchange filing, the new cables feature factory-fitted connectors that eliminate the need for on-site connector installation by engineers. Both product lines are available with choice of connector types and configurations, and in either single-mode or multimode fibre for different equipment requirements. STL stated that every cable undergoes factory testing before delivery, with higher-performance connector options available for customers seeking lower signal loss. The pre-terminated trunk assemblies are pre-tested, ready to connect on arrival, and offer flexible installation options for dense network environments.
Shares of STL Networks closed at ₹49.46, down 4.99% in the session following the contract announcement. The stock has demonstrated exceptional performance with 975% returns from the 52-week low of ₹85 and 746% year-to-date growth, hitting a 52-week high of ₹910 on September 15, 2026. The contract win represents a significant addition to STL's growing order book, though formal contract award remains pending.
