Pine Labs (NSE:PINELABS) has officially extended its five-year technology partnership with Woolworths Group for an additional five years, as disclosed in a regulatory filing on September 29, 2026 under Regulation 30 of SEBI LODR. The partnership, which has been in place for five years, moves from a standard gift card processing setup to an expanded modular architecture that enables deeper API-led integration to modernize Woolworths' stored-value infrastructure. B Amrish Rau, CEO of Pine Labs, emphasized that "The most valuable technology partnerships are built over time and become part of the infrastructure that businesses rely on every day. Over the past five years, Pine Labs and Woolworths have established that kind of relationship. We are now expanding the technology foundation with enhanced platform capabilities that can support new gift card experiences and stored-value use cases."
Through its Qwikcilver Solutions Pty Ltd subsidiary, Pine Labs powers the technology platform supporting Woolworths' gift card programs, as reported by Business Upturn. The platform supports the complete lifecycle of gift cards, including issuance, processing, transaction management, and omnichannel program capabilities. The API-led and modular architecture is designed to help Woolworths integrate gift card functionalities with their broader commerce ecosystems and progressively add new use cases by leveraging the existing technology infrastructure. As retailers increasingly connect gifting, customer engagement, and digital commerce experiences, stored-value platforms are evolving into a critical component of enterprise commerce infrastructure.
Under the extended engagement, Pine Labs will support Woolworths' ongoing modernization of gift card infrastructure through enhanced API integrations, increased scalability, and stronger digital program capabilities. According to Pine Labs, "As gift card experiences become increasingly digital, integrated, and omnichannel, enterprises need technology infrastructure that can evolve alongside customer expectations. Our partnership with Woolworths is focused on providing that long-term foundation." The extended arrangement will include enhanced API integrations, increased platform scalability, and expanded support for digital and omnichannel stored-value experiences. The relationship reflects Pine Labs' focus on helping large enterprises modernize gift card and stored-value infrastructure through scalable, API-led technology platforms.
Pine Labs demonstrated strong financial performance in Q1 FY26-27, with consolidated revenue growing 20% year-on-year to ₹737 crore, while profit after tax increased fourfold to ₹20 crore from ₹5 crore in the year-ago quarter. The company's profit before tax stood at ₹38 crore, compared with a loss of ₹5 crore in the previous quarter. However, the company's stock price fell 2.14% to currently trade at ₹169.50 on the BSE following the partnership announcement. Pine Labs maintains a robust domestic retail hardware presence with over 2.03 million point-of-sale devices active as of the end of the previous fiscal year. The technology partnership, which has been in place for five years, moves from a standard gift card processing setup to an expanded modular architecture that enables deeper API-led integration to modernize Woolworths' stored-value infrastructure, supporting a shift from physical card distribution to real-time digital gift card experiences across Australia and New Zealand.
