Google Cloud India has officially launched an AI finance platform in partnership with HCLTech as of 12 March 2026, marking a significant expansion of their strategic collaboration. The platform targets key financial operations including invoice processing, audit and compliance, financial reporting and tax compliance, demonstrating practical implementation of agentic AI technology in the financial services sector. According to the latest reports, this launch represents the expansion of their existing long-standing partnership to include agentic AI capabilities, building on their shared focus on transformative AI applications.
Google Cloud India MD Sashikumar Sreedharan has identified agentic AI as a key growth driver for the company's expansion in the Indian market. According to reports from Business Standard, Sreedharan emphasized that the company is focusing on four transformative areas in AI: modernizing data, overhauling security completely, bringing in agentic AI, and implementing generative use-case models. The integration of semantic layers in the cloud has addressed the challenge of enterprise and public sector data being fragmented and siloed, as long as the data remains clean and accessible to AI agents.
At its recent I/O developer conference, Google presented artificial intelligence agents not as a distant research project, but as a product strategy spanning Search, personal assistants, productivity software, developer tools, and smart glasses. The company's Gemini platform received deeper AI integration across Search, YouTube, Gmail, Docs, Chrome, shopping, creative tools, and smart glasses. Google also introduced new Gemini models, a redesigned Gemini app, and agentic tools meant to automate or assist with more complex tasks. This represents a shift from generative AI products defined primarily by chat interfaces to systems designed to plan tasks, use software, act across apps, and interpret images and video.
The use of agentic cloud technology, combined with tools such as Gemini Enterprise agent platform and agentic data cloud, has provided Google Cloud with a competitive edge against other hyperscalers operating in both enterprise and public sector markets in India. Sreedharan, who was appointed head of Google Cloud India in 2025, noted that horizontal business opportunities including call centres and support services are achieving high levels of accuracy and efficiency through agentic AI frameworks, while more nuanced verticals like health insurance claims approvals require multiple AI agents capable of communicating with each other. The latest platform launch with HCLTech further strengthens this competitive position in the financial services sector.
According to Business Standard reports, financial services sectors are expected to be among the early adopters of agentic AI-powered cloud services in India due to their high volumes of data. The AI finance platform launch with HCLTech validates this market expectation, with the collaboration specifically targeting financial operations where data volumes are substantial. While similar agentic finance tools are being developed across the industry, Deloitte noted that AI-led Sarbanes-Oxley compliance work still requires human oversight to verify quality and mitigate risks, highlighting the practical implementation challenges and opportunities in the financial services AI adoption.
