Google has officially brought Gemini Spark AI agent to India, marking a significant expansion of its AI services in the country. According to reports from LiveMint, the tech giant announced that Gemini Spark will be available to AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers in India next month. The AI agent, which was initially unveiled at Google's I/O 2026 event in California earlier this year, was previously available only to paid users in the US. Gemini Spark is powered by the Gemini 3.6 Flash model and is designed to carry out tasks on behalf of users, representing a major advancement from traditional chatbots. As per Business Standard, Google described the launch as introducing a round-the-clock, personalised AI assistant that will fundamentally shift AI from a reactive assistant to an active partner.
Unlike traditional chatbots, Gemini Spark runs on dedicated virtual machines inside Google Cloud and continues working even after users close their laptops or switch off their devices. As reported by LiveMint, the AI agent is described as a 24/7 personal AI agent that can automate repetitive digital tasks, monitor inboxes for important updates and create multi-step workflows across Google's productivity suite. According to Business Standard, the company emphasized that Gemini Spark will always operate only under the user's direction, with the freedom to choose which apps to connect to. The AI agent will seek the user's permission before taking actions such as spending money or sending emails, with multiple lines of defence ensuring sensitive actions require explicit user confirmation. Users can create recurring tasks and triggers using Spark, such as scanning monthly credit card statements for hidden subscription charges or tracking school updates and deadlines before compiling daily summaries for parents.
Gemini Spark integrates seamlessly with Google's Workspace applications, including Gmail, Docs and Sheets, enabling comprehensive automation of digital tasks. According to LiveMint, users can teach Spark their writing style by asking it to analyse previously sent emails and create a reusable style guide for drafting future messages. The AI agent can also automatically draft email responses recommending services and pricing packages based on customer inquiries and save them to drafts for review. This integration allows users to leverage Google's existing productivity tools with enhanced AI-powered capabilities. As per Business Standard, the integration represents a shift toward collaborative AI where humans work alongside the agent rather than either the agent or the human working independently.
Alongside the Gemini Spark launch, Google has enhanced its Ask Google Pay chatbot capabilities to provide more comprehensive financial management tools. The chatbot continues to operate across 10 Indian languages and functions as both a spending tracker and financial education tool, with the assistant translating complex financial terms and explaining different tax regimes. The tool leverages transaction history and credit reports to shape its financial suggestions, while the integration with Gemini Spark allows for more sophisticated financial analysis and automation of recurring financial tasks. According to Business Standard, the company indicated that Gemini Spark will get support for third-party integrations in the future, allowing it to complete tasks for users across a wider range of applications.
