Indian users can now subscribe to Claude AI with local pricing in rupees, as reported by TechCrunch, Firstpost, and Business Standard. According to the reports, Anthropic has begun reflecting India pricing on its website and mobile apps for Claude subscription plans, with local pricing appearing for some Indian users. The move comes as India emerges as Anthropic's biggest market outside the US, with the company making it easier for users in India to subscribe through this pricing change. However, Anthropic has not yet enabled payments via Unified Payments Interface (UPI), leaving consumers to rely on bank cards, or Apple and Google app stores' billing systems. The company has confirmed that all listed prices include GST, making payments easier and more inclusive for Indian users. As per Firstpost, the localized pricing structure aims to simplify subscriptions for Indian customers by eliminating currency conversion challenges and making payments more transparent.
The entry-level Claude Pro now starts at ₹2,000 per month when billed annually, bringing the yearly cost to ₹24,000. Users who prefer monthly payments can subscribe for ₹2,399 per month. Claude Pro runs Anthropic's Sonnet 5 model by default and includes access to additional models such as Opus and Fable 5 model. Subscribers receive up to five times the user limit of the free tier, along with Research mode, unlimited Projects, Memory, file uploads, web search, and voice mode. The plan also includes access to Claude Code, Claude Design, Claude in Excel and PowerPoint, and Microsoft 365 integration. According to TechCrunch, Firstpost, and Business Standard, the India pricing for Claude Pro is approximately $17 per month compared to $17 per month in the US, with prices in India including local taxes. The plan is targeted at students, developers, professionals, and businesses that use AI for coding, research, writing, and productivity tasks.
For higher usage requirements, Anthropic offers two Claude Max tiers in India. According to TechCrunch, Firstpost, and Business Standard, the Claude Max 5x plan is priced at ₹11,999 per month when billed annually, while the Claude Max 20x plan costs ₹23,999 per month. Users who purchase the Max plan receive priority access during peak demand on the AI chatbot, longer Claude Code sessions and early access to new models and features before they are released to Pro users. The plans are aimed at professionals with intensive AI workloads, including extended coding sessions and research tasks. The Claude Team plan includes a 200K context window, usage credits available at API rates, Claude Code, and Claude Cowork. Businesses receive central billing and administration, single sign-on and domain capture, and admin controls. According to Firstpost, the India pricing for Claude Max starts at approximately $100 per month compared to $100 per month in the US, while Team plans start at ₹2,399 per seat per month versus $20 per seat in the US. Anthropic has confirmed that customer content from Team accounts is not used to train its AI models by default.
For enterprise users, Anthropic has introduced India-specific pricing for business plans. The Claude Team Standard plan costs ₹2,399 per user per month with annual billing or ₹2,999 per user per month with monthly billing. The Claude Team Premium plan is available at ₹11,999 per user per month annually or ₹14,999 per user per month with monthly billing. Both business plans include the same features available with Claude Pro, including access to the same AI models, Claude Code, Cowork, Memory, Projects and web search. The difference lies in the larger usage allowance and additional enterprise-grade features. According to Firstpost, these plans include collaboration tools, administrative controls, single sign-on (SSO), domain management, and enterprise-level privacy protections. Claude also remains available at no cost for users in India. The free plan allows users to access Claude AI with basic usage limits and includes features such as web search, file uploads and limited Projects, making it suitable for casual users who do not require the higher limits and premium features offered under the paid Pro and Max plans.
The availability of Claude AI plans in Indian rupees eliminates the need for foreign currency payments and additional forex conversion charges, with all listed subscription prices now inclusive of GST. As reported by TechCrunch, Firstpost, and Business Standard, this change makes payments easier and more inclusive for Indian users. According to Firstpost, India accounts for 5.8% of global Claude usage, making it the second-largest market after the United States and contributing nearly 6% of the platform's user base. The shift to rupees comes amid a growing focus on India by Anthropic, which opened an office in Bengaluru in February after an earlier announcement in October, and in January appointed the former Microsoft India head Irina Ghose to lead the country's business. The company has also formed partnerships with Indian IT services giants Infosyt and Tata Consultancy Services to scale enterprise AI deployments. According to Business Standard, Anthropic's run-rate revenue in India doubled since the expansion announcement in October 2025, with the range of organisations building on Claude reflecting broad distribution from large enterprises to digital-native companies to startups. This localization strategy aims to make Claude more accessible to Indian companies and developers in one of the world's most price-sensitive AI markets.
