
Kepler Aerospace has successfully raised $8 million (around ₹75.8 crore) in a seed funding round led by Blue Ashva Capital and co-led by Finvolve India Accelerator, along with other participating institutions. According to reports from Business Standard, this marks the company's first external funding since its founding in 2018. The seed round will specifically fund the deployment of the company's first six autonomous swarming ISR satellites and support expansion of its mission operations and avionics-as-a-service businesses. The funding will also enable Kepler to move to a new facility and add 40 employees over the next 12 to 24 months.
The newly raised capital will enable Kepler to develop and deploy its next-generation space-based persistent intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities. As reported by Business Standard, the company is building an integrated space infrastructure stack spanning satellite systems, avionics, ground infrastructure, mission operations and intelligence delivery. Kepler's autonomous swarming ISR satellites will be capable of communicating with, assigning tasks to, and acting in coordination with one another in orbit without waiting for instructions from a ground station. The startup aims to reduce the time taken to convert space-based data into actionable intelligence from months to minutes through these persistent ISR systems and integrated mission infrastructure. The company is developing an autonomous satellite-swarming architecture in which multiple satellites can coordinate and exchange information in orbit, supporting persistent monitoring capabilities. The Bengaluru-based startup's technology is designed around reliability, automation, security and scalability, enabling satellite operators and mission stakeholders to deploy and manage increasingly complex space missions across strategic, defence and commercial applications.
The company has secured two iDEX prime contracts to provide swarming ISR constellations to India's defence space ecosystem, supported by approximately $4 million in grants under the iDEX programme. According to Business Standard, through its network of more than 70 ground stations, Kepler provides satellite communication, tracking, telemetry, command and mission operations capabilities for space missions. The ISR satellites monitor designated areas from space and collect information that can be used for defence and national security operations. The company's mission operations platform serves nearly all Indian space companies and operates as the primary mission operator for several ISRO satellites. This segment is gaining momentum as India's private space ecosystem matures, with around 440 space-tech startups registered in the country as of August 2026.
