The Ministry of Education, in coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs, is showcasing 37 Indian deep-tech startups at the BRICS Bharat Innovates Exposition in New Delhi. According to reports from The Impressive Times and the PIB, the two-day exposition, held on September 11-12 alongside the 18th BRICS Summit 2026, is designed to connect Indian innovators with international investors, businesses, research institutions and other stakeholders from BRICS countries. The event is being held at Bharat Mandapamam, New Delhi, and is organized alongside the BRICS Business Forum on September 11, providing participating startups opportunities to interact with CEOs, investors, industry leaders and business representatives from BRICS member countries. Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi, Union Minister of Education Shri Pralhad Joshi and BRICS leaders are expected to visit the BBI Exposition. Senior Indian and international delegates associated with the BRICS Leaders' engagements as well as CEOs, investors and senior business leaders from BRICS Member Countries are also expected to visit the BBI Exposition on September 11-12, 2026.
The 37 startups were selected from an original cohort of 120 that participated in the Bharat Innovates exposition in Nice, France in June 2026. As reported by The Impressive Times and the PIB, the selected startups span strategic areas including space technology, semiconductors, quantum computing, renewable energy, battery materials, critical minerals, robotics, biotechnology and healthcare. Notable space companies include Dhruva Space, GalaxEye Space Solutions, EON Space Labs and TM2Space Technologies, while telecom and semiconductor startups include WiSig Networks, Vervesemi and Netrasemi. The exposition supports one of India's BRICS Education Track priorities, focused on strengthening research, innovation and startup ecosystems. For the participating innovators, the event provides an opportunity to gain international visibility and explore commercial partnerships.
The cohort brings together startups across a range of strategic technologies, with space and semiconductor ventures forming a prominent part of the line-up. According to The Impressive Times and the PIB, QpiAI is showcasing its superconducting qubit-based quantum computing systems, while robotics and industrial technology companies such as Unbox Robotics and IInderpro Dynamics are part of the cohort. Healthcare and life sciences make up another sizeable part, with companies spanning AI-enabled diagnostics, remote monitoring, and cell and gene therapy including Periwinkle Technologies, Janitri Innovations, and Turtle Shell Technologies (Dozee). The platform is expected to facilitate discussions around business-to-business engagements and cross-border innovation collaborations. Matchmaking and B2B interactions are being facilitated in coordination with industry bodies including FICCI, CII and ASSOCHAM. The exposition is positioned as more than a technology exhibition, intended to serve as a bridge connecting India's research and startup ecosystem with global markets, investment networks and international institutions.
The New Delhi exposition builds on the first Bharat Innovates event held in France under the India-France Year of Innovation 2026. As reported by The Impressive Times and the PIB, that event featured 120 Indian deep-tech startups and ventures across 13 thematic areas, along with 15 participating institutions including IITs, IISc, BIRAC and iDEX, with more than 2,000 participants from 29 countries attending the three-day event. It resulted in over 30 collaboration MoUs and partnerships, while Indian startups received funding commitments worth US$254.5 million following 1,350 B2B meetings. The Delhi exposition seeks to build on that momentum by connecting Indian innovators with a broader BRICS-focused network of investors, companies, governments and research institutions. The BBI Exposition offers a high-profile platform to convert domestic innovation into international commercial and diplomatic outcomes, including direct access to BRICS CEOs and investors, head-of-state/government visibility, B2B meetings and structured matchmaking facilitated in coordination with FICCI, CII and ASSOCHAM, and brand and diplomatic credibility.
The BRICS Bharat Innovates Exposition is part of India's broader education-related engagements under its BRICS Chairship in 2026. According to The Impressive Times and the PIB, the Education Ministers' Meeting adopted a declaration covering five priority areas, including early childhood education and foundational literacy, skill development and technical and vocational education, research and innovation, mutual recognition of qualifications, and academic leadership and institutional development. The exposition therefore places Indian deep-tech entrepreneurship within a broader effort to expand international cooperation in education, research and innovation.
