Two more Vice Presidents have resigned from Flipkart, bringing the total number of senior leadership departures to four in the past 10 days. According to reports from Moneycontrol, Prathyusha Agarwal, vice president and head of strategy, and Aakriti Chandra, vice president overseeing talent recruitment for businesses including Minutes, Ekart and Customer Experience, have resigned from their positions. Agarwal previously headed Shopsy, Flipkart's social commerce platform, before taking on the broader strategy role, while Chandra joined Flipkart around six years ago after spending 17 years at Hindustan Unilever Limited.
The latest departures come at a time when Flipkart is under pressure around the timing of its initial public offering (IPO), with discussions underway on potentially pushing back the listing plans even further. As reported by Moneycontrol, Walmart is pushing for profitability as a key requirement before proceeding with the public listing. The company had also asked around 300 employees to leave in March as part of its annual performance review, as the company prepared for greater scrutiny ahead of a potential public listing.
The latest departures follow the resignations of Gunjan Bhartia, senior vice president of business finance, and Amer Hussain, vice president of supply chain for Grocery and Minutes, which were reported by Moneycontrol exclusively. The leadership churn extends beyond recent departures, with Moneycontrol also reporting on the rejig at Myntra where CEO Nandita Sinha departed and Sharon Pais took over as head of the business, while Flipkart Group CFO Sriram Venkatraman has also stepped down.
Despite the leadership changes, Flipkart continues to invest in new growth areas, with its quick-commerce business Minutes having crossed 1 million daily orders and 1,000 micro-fulfilment centres, targeting 1,500 centres as it steps up competition with Blinkit, Zepto and Swiggy Instamart. The company is also preparing to enter food delivery, with plans to launch a pilot on the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), which will put Flipkart in another high-frequency consumer category alongside Swiggy and Zomato.
Flipkart did not respond to Moneycontrol's queries regarding the latest departures. The senior-level changes across the Flipkart group in recent months reflect broader industry trends as companies prepare for public listings and face increased scrutiny in their growth strategies.
