Aerospace propulsion and deep-tech company DheyaTech has successfully raised ₹43 crore in a funding round led by Avaana Capital. According to reports from Business Standard, this Bengaluru-headquartered company, founded in 2018 by aerospace engineers with experience at global turbomachinery companies including GE Aviation and Rolls-Royce, has spent nearly a decade developing small gas turbine technology in India. The fresh capital will be utilized to increase manufacturing capacity, establish a fully integrated testing facility for gas turbine engines, and support closer engagement with domestic and international customers to accelerate deployment timelines.
As reported by Business Standard, DheyaTech is developing a family of small gas turbine engines ranging from 20 kgf to 400 kgf of thrust for applications across advanced aerial platforms, distributed power generation and next-generation energy systems. The company has developed a proprietary adaptive engine control unit (ECU), giving it indigenous capability in the electronic control of its gas turbine systems. In collaboration with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, the company has developed a hydrogen-based flexi-fuel combustor for its 60-kW flexi-fuel turbogenerator and is advancing hydrogen propulsion and power-generation technologies, including a hydrogen blower that has received ATEX safety certification.
According to Business Standard, DheyaTech is moving from technology development towards production readiness, with flight trials of its engines targeted for the fourth quarter of 2026 and confirmed orders from Indian and global original equipment manufacturers. The company is the first private company in India to pursue independent airworthiness certification for its gas turbine engines under the guidance of the Centre for Military Airworthiness and Certification (CEMILAC) of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). Apart from Avaana Capital, Unimech Aerospace and Manufacturing has been working as a strategic manufacturing partner, supporting precision manufacturing of gas turbine components and systems. As per DheyaTech, India has historically depended on imports for small gas turbine engines, a technology used in areas including distributed power generation and advanced aerial platforms.
According to Business Standard, DheyaTech CEO and Co-Founder Gurushankara K C emphasized that this funding marks an important step in their journey from technology development to production readiness. He stated that the company plans to build a scalable family of engines, strengthen testing capabilities and work with customers on real-world applications. The company has developed an in-house engineering team covering design, development, manufacturing and testing, along with its proprietary adaptive engine control unit. DheyaTech is expanding its turbomachinery work into hydrogen propulsion and power generation, with its hydrogen blower having received ATEX safety certification and its collaboration with IISc-Bengaluru producing a hydrogen-based flexi-fuel combustor for a 60-kW flexi-fuel turbogenerator.
