According to reports from The Hindu BusinessLine, Outlook Business, Agritech Circle, and Inc42, Balwaan Krishi has successfully raised ₹100 crore (around $10 million) in Series B funding to accelerate its next growth phase. First Bridge India Growth Fund Private Equity led the round, with participation from other institutional investors whose names were not disclosed. The transaction was advised by investment banking firm Right Pillar Advisors, as confirmed in the company's statement on September 28. Founded in 2016, the Jaipur-based startup operates in the agricultural machinery and equipment segment, providing farmers with tools and machines aimed at improving productivity and reducing manual effort.
As reported by The Hindu BusinessLine, Outlook Business, Agritech Circle, and Inc42, the new capital will be deployed across strategic priorities including expanding domestic manufacturing capacity, strengthening Balwaan's dealer and service network across Southern India, and developing the next generation of farm equipment. A significant portion of the funding will be used to deepen manufacturing capabilities in India, with the company also expanding into Southern India to strengthen both product availability and after-sales support across key agricultural markets. This expansion will give the Jaipur-based company greater control over product quality and supply chains while reducing dependence on imported machinery and components. With the latest funding, Balwaan plans to accelerate its manufacturing capabilities within India while expanding its presence in southern India.
According to the media statement and Inc42 reports, the funding will enable development of the next generation of farm equipment, enabled with predictive maintenance and IoT capability. This includes power weeders, battery sprayers and other mechanisation solutions specifically designed for Indian farming conditions. The company plans to build products including power weeders and battery-operated sprayers, while also exploring connected technologies that can provide greater visibility into machine usage and maintenance. The equipment is priced between ₹10,000 and ₹1 lakh, with the company positioning affordability as a key part of its business model. The product development plans include connected features to monitor machines and identify maintenance needs before a breakdown.
As reported by Outlook Business, Agritech Circle, and Inc42, Balwaan Krishi currently serves more than 4 lakh farmers across India through its extensive distribution network. The company has more than 800 dealers across Northern India and follows a hybrid business-to-business and business-to-consumer distribution model, along with an e-commerce presence. Its product portfolio includes power weeders, battery sprayers and other farm mechanisation equipment, with products specifically aimed at small and marginal farmers who make up around 86% of India's farming community and cultivate less than two hectares. With the latest funding, Balwaan plans to focus on strengthening its dealer network as well as its after-sales service infrastructure, enabling farmers in new markets to access both equipment and servicing support.
The Series B round follows Balwaan's ₹40 crore Series A investment from JM Financial Private Equity in June 2024, which was also earmarked for product development and distribution expansion. According to multiple reports, the latest funding adds to agricultural technology investments this year, alongside funding for WayCool and Arya.ag, spanning farm equipment, supply chains, and financing. In March, WayCool raised ₹210 crore from Lightrock India, while Arya.ag raised $80 million in a Series D round from GEF Capital Partners in January. Quoting Rohit Bajaj, Co-Founder and CEO of Balwaan Krishi, the funding allows the company to strengthen manufacturing, broaden reach and continue building products specifically for Indian farming conditions, as rising labour costs and the need to improve farm productivity are increasing demand for affordable mechanisation.
