Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav released the 39th installment of the Mukhyamantri Ladli Behna Yojana on Wednesday, August 19, disbursing funds to over 1.25 crore women beneficiaries during a program held in Maihar. According to official reports, beneficiaries usually receive their monthly installments by the 15th of each month, but the state has successfully maintained its timeline for this installment. The release comes ahead of Raksha Bandhan, which will be celebrated on August 28, with the state providing special assistance to mark the occasion.
Under the latest installment, eligible women receive ₹1,750 instead of the regular ₹1,500 monthly assistance, with ₹250 additional provided as special assistance on account of Raksha Bandhan. As reported by Zee News, the government spent over ₹312.83 crore on this extra amount, bringing the total transfer to ₹2,148 crore for the 39th installment alone. Since the scheme's launch in June 2023, a total of ₹63,248 crore has been transferred to beneficiary accounts through 39 installments. The scheme has seen progressive increases from its original ₹1,000 per month launch amount, with plans to further increase the monthly installment to ₹3,000 per month by 2028.
The scheme maintains specific eligibility requirements for beneficiaries. According to official guidelines, applicants must be permanent residents of Madhya Pradesh and women between ages 21 and 59 as on January 1 of the calendar year of application. The scheme is open to married, unmarried, widowed, and divorced women, with no income tax payer restrictions for applicants or family members earning above ₹2.5 lakh annually. Additionally, the total family land ownership must be less than five acres, and beneficiaries must complete KYC processes including Aadhaar, bank account, and mobile number verification.
The scheme operates through a Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system, ensuring funds are deposited directly into recipients' bank accounts, completely eliminating intermediate processing steps. As reported by Zee News, beneficiaries receive a message on their registered mobile phone once money is credited, or can check payment status online at cmladlibahna.mp.gov.in by visiting the Application & Payment Status section and entering their registration details. The registration process remains offline, with applicants required to approach gram panchayat or ward offices for forms, which can be filled and submitted at the site along with required documentation.
