Super senior pensioners aged 80 years and above can submit their life certificate from October 1, 2026, while other pensioners below 80 years can submit from November 1, 2026. This digital service enables pensioners to submit their life certificate without physically visiting pension disbursing agencies, making the process particularly beneficial for elderly pensioners who may find it difficult to visit banks, post offices, or other pension disbursing offices in person.
The Jeevan Pramaan service is a biometric-enabled Digital Life Certificate launched by the Government of India for pensioners. As reported by TopNews, the service utilizes the Aadhaar platform for biometric authentication, after which a Digital Life Certificate is generated and stored in the Life Certificate Repository. The pension disbursing agency can access the certificate online, reducing the need for any personal presence on the part of the pensioner. The digital system is designed to make the annual life certificate process simpler and reduce physical and logistical difficulties faced by pensioners, especially elderly and infirm ones.
Pensioners can generate their Jeevan Pramaan certificate via the Jeevan Pramaan application or by visiting a nearby Jeevan Pramaan Centre. According to TopNews, the process involves providing required details such as Aadhaar number, Pension Payment Order (PPO) number, bank account details, bank name and mobile number. The steps include downloading the application, providing pension and personal details including Aadhaar and PPO details, completing Aadhaar-based biometric authentication using fingerprint or iris scan, and receiving an SMS acknowledgement containing the Jeevan Pramaan Certificate ID upon successful authentication.
The Digital Life Certificate is stored electronically in the Life Certificate Repository and pensioners can download a PDF copy from the Jeevan Pramaan website by entering their Jeevan Pramaan ID. As reported by TopNews, the authorised pension disbursing agency can also access the certificate online and download it. The certificates can also be electronically delivered to pension disbursing agencies where the e-delivery facility is enabled. Pensioners can obtain Digital Life Certificates from Jeevan Pramaan Centres operated by Common Service Centres (CSCs), banks and government offices, or utilize the Jeevan Pramaan client application on compatible PC, mobile phone, or tablet.
