The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has confirmed that services will be restored from July 1, 2026, marking the end of the planned system upgrade. As per the latest EPFO notification, services on Member Portal, Employer Portal & UMANG App will remain temporarily unavailable from 26-30 June 2026 due to the scheduled system migration. The organization has clarified that services are now fully restored as of July 1, 2026, with normal claim submission services expected to resume after the completion of the upgrade process. The upgrade is described as an important step towards delivering faster, more reliable and secure services in the future, with the retirement fund body emphasizing that this temporary disruption was necessary for long-term system improvements.
During the migration period, several key services will be temporarily unavailable for EPF members. As reported by the EPFO, submission of new claim requests will be temporarily unavailable, along with claim processing services. The notification clarified that claims already submitted before the migration period will be taken up for processing after services resume, though their processing may be delayed. The system migration will begin at 12:00 am on June 26, 2026 and will continue until 11:59 pm on June 30, 2026, making it a four-day period of service disruption. The EPFO has confirmed that services on Member Portal, Employer Portal & UMANG App will remain temporarily unavailable from 26-30 June 2026 due to the scheduled system migration. The organization has also clarified that members and employers will not be able to log in to the Member Interface and Employer Interface during this period. The temporary disruption has affected subscribers and employers alike, who may be facing delays in onboarding new employees and completing monthly compliance-related filings.
The migration has also impacted services available through the UMANG app, which will remain unavailable until July 1, 2026 for EPFO services. According to the latest updates, users can no longer access claim submission, processing services, scheme certificates, UAN applications, Aadhaar seeding, claim status tracking, establishment search, office address lookup, grievance registration, and Jeevan Pramaan certificate applications through the app during this period. However, members can still access PF balance information, EPF account passbook, and track application status through alternative channels including the missed call facility on 9966044425 and SMS services to 7738299899 using the message format EPFOHO UAN ENG. The UMANG app allows users to access several EPFO-related services, including checking PF balance, raising claims, applying for a Universal Account Number (UAN), applying for a scheme certificate, seeding Aadhaar with UAN, checking claim status, searching for establishments, viewing EPFO office addresses, registering grievances and applying for the Jeevan Pramaan certificate. The EPFO has provided an alternative call centre number 14470 for assistance during this period, with members who require help being advised to contact this number for support.
EPF subscribers can access alternative services during the portal downtime through multiple channels. Members can check their provident fund balance, EPF account passbook or track application status through the Umang app, SMS, WhatsApp, or the missed call facility. The Umang app allows users to access EPF details by entering their UAN and OTP, while WhatsApp services are available through local office numbers with 24/7 access in local languages. Subscribers can continue to check their EPF balance through the missed call facility by giving a missed call from their registered mobile number to 011-22901406, which is available free of cost. For using the facility, the subscriber's UAN should be linked with Aadhaar, PAN and bank account details. After the missed call, subscribers receive an SMS containing PF account information. EPFO subscribers can also obtain their PF balance details through SMS by sending an SMS to 7738299899 using the message format EPFOHO UAN ENG, where 'ENG' represents the preferred language. These facilities remain available for subscribers even as EPFO undertakes the temporary system upgrade and maintenance activities.
