Central Depository Services (India) Ltd Investor Protection Fund (CDSL IPF) has launched a multilingual investor education film to promote thoughtful financial planning and informed investing. According to reports from The Hindu BusinessLine and Rediff Moneynews, the film was developed in collaboration with Amar Chitra Katha to simplify essential investment concepts through engaging storytelling. The initiative was officially announced on August 17 through a statement released by CDSL IPF.
The film uses Akbar-Birbal storytelling to simplify financial planning and investing concepts, making them accessible and relatable for investors across diverse geographies and demographics. As reported by The Hindu BusinessLine and Rediff Moneynews, Sudhish Pillai, Head, CDSL IPF Secretariat, emphasized that financial education is most effective when complex concepts are communicated through simple, relatable stories. The film aims to encourage investors to adopt goal-based investing, prepare for the future with greater confidence and participate in the securities market in an informed and responsible manner through formats such as films and comics. The initiative seeks to encourage disciplined financial planning and a long-term approach to wealth creation.
The animated film, titled The Garden of Prosperity, follows Akbar and Birbal as they help a newly married couple understand how to invest their wedding gifts wisely. According to the statement, this approach makes investing easier to understand for people across age groups and geographies, combining timeless wisdom with practical financial lessons. The film explains key principles of responsible investing through an engaging story, using the analogy of nurturing a garden to explain the importance of goal-based investing, diversification across financial goals, matching investments with different time horizons and maintaining an emergency fund. The film is available in 12 languages — English, Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Odia and Assamese — with the aim of reaching investors across both urban and rural markets and different age groups.
CDSL IPF's collaboration with Amar Chitra Katha extends beyond the multilingual film to include investor education comics, including The Unofficial Ustaad and The Golden Peacock Fraud, which seek to simplify financial concepts and make financial literacy more inclusive. As reported by The Hindu BusinessLine and Rediff Moneynews, CDSL IPF said it will continue to undertake investor awareness initiatives across the country, with a focus on improving financial literacy and encouraging individuals to become informed and responsible participants in the securities market. The partnership represents a comprehensive approach to financial education through familiar characters and storytelling methods, with the initiative building on CDSL IPF's commitment to advancing financial literacy through nationwide investor awareness initiatives, empowering individuals to become #AtmanirbharInvestor.
