The study reveals that despite varying investment strategies among fund managers, a handful of small-cap stocks have emerged as favorites across different portfolios.
The financial sector demonstrates the highest representation with three companies making the top 10 list. PNB Housing Finance and RBL Bank are among the most widely held small-cap financial stocks in actively managed mutual fund portfolios, while Karur Vysya Bank also features prominently with 117 schemes. This concentration reflects the sector's appeal to fund managers seeking diversified financial exposure.
The healthcare segment is represented by two companies in the top 10, with Gland Pharma holding 78 schemes and Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) featuring in 110 schemes. Outside the financial and healthcare sectors, consumer-focused companies show strong presence, including Jubilant FoodWorks with 129 schemes and Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals at 138 schemes. Ather Energy, an electric vehicle manufacturer, appears in 101 schemes, while Delhivery, a logistics company, is held by 128 schemes.
According to the Value Research analysis, the list includes companies from diverse sectors including housing finance, consumer durables, banking, logistics, healthcare, and electric vehicles. Kalpataru Projects International, an engineering and infrastructure company, is held by 66 schemes, while Ather Energy features in 101 schemes, demonstrating fund managers' interest in emerging sectors. The data, as of June 30, 2026, covers only actively managed mutual funds and represents the most widely held small-cap stocks across different fund portfolios.
