HDFC Asset Management Company (HDFC AMC) successfully listed the HDFC FTSE India Equity ETF on the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) on Friday. According to reports from The Hindu BusinessLine, the ETF is an open-ended scheme that tracks the FTSE India Equity Index (Total Return Index). The fund covers approximately 90% of the market capitalisation of the FTSE India All Cap Index, providing investors with broad exposure to Indian equities through a rules-based, passive investment strategy.
The listing ceremony was attended by key industry leaders including Navneet Munot, Managing Director and CEO of HDFC AMC; Nico Boulay, Head of Asia at FTSE Russell; and Ashishkumar Chauhan, Managing Director and CEO of NSE, all of whom delivered keynote addresses. As reported by The Hindu BusinessLine, Munot highlighted that India's capital markets had undergone significant transformation over the past decade, driven by economic formalisation, improving market depth and expanding sectoral participation. He noted that investors were increasingly seeking diversified, transparent exposure to the country's equity markets.
The ETF is now available in Regular Plan format for investors seeking systematic investment options. According to Financial Express, investors can track the fund's performance through various metrics including NAV, SIP returns, portfolio composition, and sector allocation. The scheme carries a 'Very High Risk' rating on SEBI's riskometer and is designed for investors seeking returns commensurate with the FTSE India Equity Index over the long term, subject to tracking error. The listing expands HDFC AMC's existing range of passive investment products, with the company managing equity and fixed income assets across a nationwide distribution network.
