State Bank of India Chairman Challa Sreenivasulu Setty has confirmed that the public sector lender is planning for a public listing of SBI General Insurance after the initial public offering of SBI Asset Management Company. According to reports from ET Now, Setty stated, 'I think it is a candidate for listing. Maybe after the AMC, we will definitely look at it. But, there's a good performance trajectory for SBI General.'
Setty highlighted the exceptional performance of SBI General Insurance, noting that 'SBI General has done phenomenally well, and I think in every parameter, as we see, because many of the numbers may not be available in the public domain, because it's not a listed company.' As reported by ET Now, the insurance subsidiary is growing at almost 1.4x of the market in the 25-26 period, demonstrating superior performance across key metrics including underwriting and writing capabilities.
The Chairman emphasized the company's consistent growth momentum, stating that 'the company is on the growth path' according to ET Now reports. Setty noted that while detailed performance numbers may not be publicly available due to the company's non-listed status, the underlying metrics show strong fundamentals across all operational parameters, positioning SBI General Insurance favorably for potential public market entry.
