Vedanta's board approved its first interim dividend of ₹5 per equity share for FY27 on Thursday, October 8, 2026, marking the company's first dividend announcement following its restructuring into separate businesses in June 2026. According to the company's regulatory filing, the total dividend payout will amount to approximately ₹1,955 crore, with the dividend declared on equity shares having a face value of ₹1 each. Wednesday, October 14, 2026, has been fixed as the record date for determining shareholders eligible to receive the interim dividend, with the dividend to be paid within stipulated timelines under applicable law. As per Business Standard, this is the company's first interim dividend post-demerger, reinforcing Vedanta's focus on delivering value to shareholders as it enters a new phase as a more focused and diversified natural resources company. The dividend comes after Vedanta declared three interim dividends during FY26, amounting to a cumulative ₹34 per share - the first interim dividend of ₹7 per share in June 2025, followed by a second interim dividend of ₹16 per share in August 2025, and a third interim dividend of ₹11 per share in March 2026. The company also considered and approved the issuance of non-convertible debentures (NCDs) on a private placement basis to raise funds aggregating up to ₹3,500 crore from investors, with Vedanta to issue up to 3,50,000 non-convertible debentures each at a face value of ₹1 lakh apiece in one or more tranches.
Vedanta reported a remarkable 71.8% rise in consolidated net profit to ₹5,473 crore in Q2 FY27, compared to ₹3,185 crore in the same period last year. According to Business Standard, the company attributed this strong performance to higher sales amid rising global metal prices and a lower exchange rate of the rupee. Revenue from operations during the first quarter of FY27 rose by 53.6% to ₹24,205 crore from ₹15,754 crore a year ago, while expenses during the reporting quarter rose to ₹17,558 crore from ₹13,203 crore recorded in the year-ago period. The performance reflects the benefits of capacity expansion, operational efficiencies and investments made across the portfolio. Vedanta Limited is a leading global producer of metals, critical minerals and technology, with the company's four demerged entities -- Vedanta Aluminium Metal, Vedanta Power, Vedanta Oil and Gas and Vedanta Iron And Steel -- making their stock market debut in June 2026.
Vedanta Power emerged as the standout performer in Q2 FY27, delivering its highest-ever quarterly power sales of 5,593 million units, representing 26% year-over-year growth from 4,433 MU in Q2 FY26. According to the company's latest statement, the H1 FY27 power sales increased 32% year-over-year to 10,817 MU, supported by stronger plant performance and improved availability across the portfolio. The growth was driven by a sharp increase in generation at Meenakshi Energy and a turnaround at Jharsuguda Thermal Plant. At Meenakshi Energy, power sales increased 111% YoY to 1,470 million units in Q2, taking the overall sales in the first half of the fiscal year to 2,820 million units, up 160% YoY. The performance reflects operations of the expanded 1,000-MW capacity base, strengthening the plant's contribution to the company's overall generation portfolio. As reported by The Hindu BusinessLine, the strong Q2 FY27 operational performance was broad-based across Vedanta's businesses, including record quarterly and half-yearly production across key operations, with particularly strong performance in zinc, ferro alloys, ports and aluminium.
Vedanta Aluminium delivered record quarterly production of 649 KT, supported by a 37% year-over-year surge in alumina to 895 KT and a 31% expansion in value-added products (VAP) to 432 KT. As reported by Mint, the business secured the Consent to Operate for the Sijimali Bauxite Block and commissioned the second zone of BALCO's 525 kA smelter potline, which structurally de-risks raw material availability and lowers unit power consumption. The ferrochrome vertical (FACOR) expanded output by 26% YoY to 24 KT following the restart of the Kalarangiatta mine. According to LiveMint, experts believe Vedanta Aluminium emerges as the strongest growth pick across the group, with the business delivering record quarterly production and securing key operational milestones that structurally improve its cost structure and raw material security.
