PVR Inox delivered its best-ever quarter for revenue, EBITDA and PAT, with ICICI Securities joining the bullish sentiment by issuing a 'Buy' rating with a target price of ₹1,850 (implying 16% upside potential). According to ICICI Securities's analysis, the company reported consolidated net profit of ₹263 crore in Q2FY27, compared with ₹106 crore in the year-ago quarter, with revenue increasing 16.9% year-on-year to ₹2,105 crore from ₹1,800 crore. The EBITDA rose 25.2% to ₹770 crore from ₹615 crore, while EBITDA margin improved to 36.6% from 34.2%, demonstrating genuine post-merger operating leverage rather than content-led performance. The cost-saving initiatives taken over FY25-26 meant cash EBITDA margin reached 21.3%, well above the 17–18% pre-Covid range at 32.0% occupancy in FY20.
The brokerage highlighted the SMART Cinema pilot as strategically important with 25-30% lower capex, about 25% lower operating cost, and ₹190 average ticket pricing creating a credible format for underpenetrated tier-3/4 markets. Management has signed roughly 100 SMART cinemas for the next 12-18 months, identified 300 cities, and indicated 150-175 annual screen additions from FY28, versus 90-100 in FY27. This asset-light/FOCO model with 74% of screen additions on a capital-light route is expected to preserve cash flows, improve capital efficiency and drive higher RoE/RoCE over time. ICICI Securities notes that in Q3FY27, Ramayana, King and Avengers: Doomsday are expected to sustain the momentum created by Drishyam 3 and Jailer 2.
The company demonstrated strong financial discipline with ₹604 crore of H1 free cash flow generation, ₹259 crore debt repayment, and completion of a maiden ₹300 crore buyback. ICICI Securities reports that net cash stands at ₹1.4 billion after the maiden ₹3 billion buyback, with the Board having committed to return ~30% of annual surplus cash flow to shareholders. The company ended September with ₹141 crore net cash position, reflecting significant improvement in balance sheet health. The TTM ROCE of 16.5% (ex-goodwill) underlines the marked improvement in capital efficiency, while ICICI Securities notes that a new capital-allocation policy targets net debt/EBITDA below 0.5 times.
ICICI Securities has upgraded its FY27/28E EBITDA estimates by 13.2%/12.9% and PAT estimates by 26.5%/21.5% following the strong quarterly performance. The brokerage increased its target price to ₹1,850, which is based on 12x FY28E EV/EBITDA, maintaining its 'Buy' rating. IDBI Capital previously maintained its 'Buy' rating at 25.5 times FY28E earnings per share, while Prabhudas Lilladher had issued an 'Accumulate' rating with a target price of ₹1,561. The stock has already appreciated by 38% since the last upgrade note in January 2026, with the current valuation at EV/EBITDA multiple of 9.9x/8.4x over the FY28E/FY29E pre-IND AS EBITDA estimates.
Both ICICI Securities and IDBI Capital remain bullish on PVR Inox's strategic transition and financial performance. ICICI Securities emphasizes the company's genuine post-merger operating leverage and improved capital efficiency, while IDBI Capital maintains its positive outlook on the genuine post-merger operating leverage and strong cash generation. The combination of record quarterly performance, strategic SMART cinema expansion, and strong cash generation positions the company well for continued growth in the underpenetrated tier-3/4 markets, with ICICI Securities noting that the strong content pipeline boosted occupancy to 30.4% in Q2FY27.
