According to reports from Business Standard, The Economic Times, and The Hindu BusinessLine, Jefferies initiated coverage on Turtlemint Fintech Solutions Ltd. with a 'buy' recommendation and a price target of ₹190 per share. This implies an upside potential of 37% from the stock's previous close of ₹138.92. The stock soared over 5% on Thursday, trading at ₹144.40 after hitting a high of ₹146.50 against its previous close. As per The Hindu BusinessLine, the stock opened 5% higher at ₹146 on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and climbed to an intraday high of ₹146.48. Jefferies termed it a 'growth play on the India insurance penetration story' and noted that the company trades at 23x FY28 estimated adjusted EBITDA, compared with 39x for PB Fintech and 29x for Prudent, suggesting the valuation does not reflect the company's strong fundamentals.
As reported by Business Standard, The Economic Times, and The Hindu BusinessLine, Jefferies highlighted that the 'point of sales person' (POSP) is among the fastest growing insurance sales channels in India, now accounting for 6% of insurance premiums and growing 2-4x faster than agencies and banks over the last 5 years. Turtlemint Fintech holds the third-largest position within this space with a 20% market share in POSP premiums. The brokerage noted that platforms such as Turtlemint offer insurers an alternative route to B30+ markets, which are typically difficult to penetrate, with premiums in B30+ markets expected to grow 400-500bps higher than T30 markets, particularly in health and motor segments. Jefferies expects the company's granular POSP network and tech stack to drive better profitability on a smaller base, with partner productivity expected to improve by 8% CAGR over FY26-29e led by cross-selling of other insurance products and increase in average ticket size. The brokerage expects a 38% three-year revenue CAGR for Turtlemint, led by a 31% premium CAGR and higher take-rates.
According to The Hindu BusinessLine, Turtlemint's standalone net loss narrowed to ₹35.55 crore in Q1 FY27 compared with ₹39.65 crore recorded in Q1 FY26. This represents an improvement from the consolidated net loss reported by Business Standard. Revenue increased 39.71% year-on-year to ₹294.08 crore during the quarter. The company's platform premium rose 49.8% year-on-year to ₹1,205 crore in Q1 FY27 from ₹804 crore in Q1 FY26. Jefferies expects the growing scale to drive Turtlemint's FY29 estimated adjusted EBITDA margin to 10%, compared to a loss reported in financial year 2026. The brokerage estimates Turtlemint will onboard 100-125k partners (15% CAGR) over FY26-29e, which combined with improving partner productivity, could drive 31% premium CAGR till FY29e. Jefferies expects renewals to increase from 20% of revenues in FY26 to 25% by FY29e, led by rise in share of health insurance within new business premiums, with higher retention rates of 26% in FY29 vs 22% in FY26.
As reported by Business Standard, shares of Turtlemint Fintech made its stock market debut in June with the shares listing at around an 11% discount to the IPO price of ₹152. At the current market price, the stock is around 4% below its IPO price. This marks the first analyst recommendation that Turtlemint has received after its listing from analysts. The company has ₹650 crore in cash post its recent IPO, which combined with improving cashflows reduces the risk of further capital raise. Jefferies expects operating cash flows to turn positive in FY28 driven by improving profitability. The stock has since jumped 5% following the analyst coverage, with Jefferies noting that the company has differentiated itself by building a granular digital partner (DP) network, indexing more to lower-tier cities, and building a tech stack to improve DP engagement, productivity and cross-sell. The brokerage set a target price of ₹190 based on 22x September 2028 estimated adjusted EBITDA, representing a roughly 30% discount to PB Fintech due to the latter's more than 90% market share in the B2C business.
