Hyundai Motor India witnessed a significant 22.55% surge in open interest (OI) in its derivatives segment on 25 September 2026, signalling renewed market interest and potential directional positioning after a brief period of price consolidation. The latest open interest in Hyundai Motor India's derivatives rose sharply to 32,765 contracts from 26,735 the previous day, marking an increase of 6,030 contracts. This surge in OI was accompanied by a robust volume of 82,934 contracts traded, reflecting heightened participation from traders and investors. The combined futures and options value stood at approximately ₹45,709.26 lakhs, with futures contributing ₹42,225.44 lakhs and options an overwhelming ₹44,808.83 crores, underscoring the stock's liquidity and active derivatives market.
Experts underscore that the stock is witnessing value buying after the recent decline, mirroring the trend in several other auto stocks such as Mahindra and Mahindra, Hero MotorCorp, and TVS Motor. As reported by Mint, anticipation of price hikes and healthy sales in the festive season has influenced sentiment positively. The company has opened bookings for the upcoming Bayon SUV at ₹11,000 through its website and dealerships, with the 4.2-metre SUV positioned between the Venue and Creta in Hyundai's India lineup set to launch during the 2026 festive season. The stock's recent performance, reflected in a 2.33% day change and outperformance over the sector, highlights its resilience amid sectoral fluctuations.
According to Aditya Thukral, founder and analyst at AT Research and Risk Managers, the stock is currently trading within the range of ₹2,130 and ₹2,020. As reported by Mint, Thukral noted that sellers are happy to create short-selling positions near this resistance, while buyers might be interested in taking entry near previous resistances of ₹2,020, which are now working as support. Vipin Kumar from Globe Capital Market said the ongoing profit-taking found support around the gap support zone at the ₹2,020–₹2,060 spot range, coinciding with the confluence zone of its 6-month and one-year EMAs on daily charts. The stock's technical setup indicates a medium-term bullish bias with some short-term resistance, as it currently trades above its 100-day and 200-day moving averages but remains below the shorter-term 5-day, 20-day, and 50-day averages.
Brokerage firm Emkay Global has a buy recommendation on the stock with a target price of ₹2,600. According to Mint, Emkay expects recovery in Hyundai Motor India's market share from September 2026 with the launch of Bayon-based mid-size SUV, expecting it to clock superior growth amid industry moderation. The brokerage expects the company's volume, revenue, and EPS CAGR of 11%, 15%, and 16% respectively over FY26-29E. Thukral suggests buying on dips around ₹2,020 for medium-term investors with a stop loss at the higher low of ₹1,880, anticipating a move above ₹2,300 in coming months. However, the downgrade from Buy to Hold by MarketsMOJO on 18 September 2026, with a Mojo Score of 64.0, indicates a cautious stance, suggesting that while the stock is not an outright sell, investors should weigh risks carefully given the mixed sentiment from derivatives activity and delivery volumes.
