ICICI Securities has issued a 'Buy' rating on Hyundai Motor India with a target price of ₹2,450, as reported in their research report dated July 31, 2026. The brokerage expects the company to achieve approximately 9% volume CAGR over FY26-28, supported by a robust launch pipeline and strong export order book. According to ICICI Securities, two new nameplate additions for FY27 could bode well for HMIL's growth, while multiple full-model changes (FMCs) are expected to help revive the company's franchise and market share with approximately 90 basis points gain over FY26–28E. The outlook for exports remains strong, led by order backlogs and geographical diversification, with the target price based on 25x Sep'28E EPS. The management indicated that the situation has improved and the build-up of order backlog from the West Asia and healthy traction for Venue, Verna and Exter in geographies like Central & South Africa (CSA) and LATAM/Mexico could drive growth going ahead.
According to Sudeep Shah, Head of Technical Research at SBI Securities, Hyundai Motor India has broken out of a six-week consolidation range of ₹1,882-2,065, following its quarterly earnings with the stock opening gap-up and seeing strong buying interest. Shah noted that the Relative Strength Index (RSI) has turned higher and broken above a downward-sloping trendline, indicating a significant improvement in bullish momentum. He added that the DI+ has crossed above the DI- on the ADX indicator, signalling that buyers have regained control of the trend. The ₹2,065-2,060 zone is likely to act as an immediate support, and the stock is expected to maintain its bullish bias in the near term as long as it sustains above this level.
Hyundai Motor India's first quarter FY27 performance exceeded expectations, with PAT reaching ₹8.9 billion against estimates of ₹8.3 billion. According to Motilal Oswal's research report dated July 31, 2026, the outperformance was primarily attributed to higher-than-expected other income and lower depreciation. However, EBITDA margin came in at 9.3%, declining 400 basis points year-on-year due to commodity inflation impact, lower volumes, plant startup costs, and adverse product mix. Despite margin pressure, the company demonstrated strong operational performance that has reinforced analyst confidence. Tarun Garg, Managing Director and CEO, commented that the first quarter was impacted by multiple headwinds that weighed on volumes and profitability, but expects business momentum to improve from the second quarter, supported by the full normalisation of production, healthy demand conditions, and a robust product pipeline. Ramp-up of capacities, price hikes and cost-control initiatives could support margin recovery hereon.
Multiple brokerages have maintained their positive stance on Hyundai Motor India following the Q1 results. Nuvama Institutional Equities retained its 'Buy' rating and raised its target price to ₹2,500 from ₹2,400. Motilal Oswal Financial Services reiterated its 'Buy' rating with a target price of ₹2,334. Nomura maintained its 'Buy' rating with a target price of ₹2,498, implying an upside of around 24% from Thursday's closing price. CLSA reiterated its 'Outperform' rating with a target price of ₹2,300. The company has reiterated its FY27 guidance of 8-10% year-on-year volume growth across domestic and export markets and an EBITDA margin of 11-14%. Management's confidence in achieving 8-10% domestic volume growth in FY27, backed by capacity expansion and upcoming product launches, while maintaining margin guidance despite challenging cost environment, continues to support analyst optimism. However, downside risks include delays in product interventions, geopolitical uncertainties impacting HMIL's exports and overall volume growth, and further increase in commodity costs and inability to take price hikes due to competitive intensity.
