The Indian stock market ended Tuesday's session in negative territory, with the Sensex closing at 77,017.79, down 252 points (0.33%) and the Nifty 50 at 24,032.80, falling 87 points (0.36%). According to reports from LiveMint, the decline was primarily attributed to profit-taking in banking and financial stocks. However, the broader market showed resilience with mid-cap and small-cap indices posting gains, with BSE 150 Midcap rising 0.15% and BSE 250 Smallcap increasing 0.20%. The total market capitalisation of BSE-listed companies remained steady at ₹467 lakh crore.
As reported by LiveMint, the Gift Nifty was trading around 24,299.5 level by 7:29 AM, representing a premium of 193.2 points from the previous Nifty futures close of 24,106.30. Hariprasad K, SEBI-registered Research Analyst and Founder of Livelong Wealth, noted that the Nifty 50 is set to open on a positive note, supported by firm global cues and early signals from Gift Nifty trading around the 24,200 mark. The constructive setup follows a strong close on Wall Street, where the S&P 500 scaled fresh record highs, aided by easing crude oil prices and encouraging corporate earnings.
According to recommendations from NeoTrader's Raja Venkatraman and MarketSmith India, five stocks are suggested for today's trading session. Aditya Birla Capital Ltd is recommended as a buy above ₹363 with a stop loss at ₹340 and target price of ₹405, citing the stock's revival after spending nearly three months in a declining phase. Aurobindo Pharma Ltd is suggested as a buy above ₹1,430 with stop loss at ₹1,390 and target of ₹1,550, based on strong breakout above the cloud region. Finolex Cables Ltd is recommended as a buy above ₹1,060 with stop loss at ₹1,020 and target of ₹1,150, following steady rise since April 2026 reaction.
As reported by LiveMint, the positive movement in mid- and small-cap segments helped maintain overall market stability, with the total market capitalisation of BSE-listed companies remaining steady at ₹467 lakh crore. The divergence between large-cap and broader market performance highlights selective investor interest, with mid and small-cap stocks showing resilience despite profit-taking in major indices. Key earnings results from Larsen & Toubro, Mahindra & Mahindra, Hero MotoCorp, and Punjab National Bank are expected to influence broader market direction during the ongoing earnings season.
