Welspun Enterprises' subsidiary Welspun Michigan Engineers has secured two significant sewer rehabilitation projects worth ₹351.24 crore from Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. According to the company's exchange filing under Regulation 30 of SEBI LODR, the Letters of Award were received on September 18, 2026, with the projects funded by the World Bank. The contract value includes GST but excludes provisional sums, with both projects classified as domestic contracts with no related-party interest.
The first project, valued at ₹229.48 crore, involves rehabilitation of an existing main trunk sewer line in Western Ahmedabad, covering the stretch from Gota Lake to the 285 MLD Tertiary Sewage Pumping Station (TSPS). The second project, worth ₹121.76 crore, covers rehabilitation of existing sewer lines across key stretches of Eastern Ahmedabad, including Odhav 310 to Panjrapole Char Rasta to Nirant Cross Road to Mahadev Imperial, as well as Metro Pillar No. 99 to Nirant Char Rasta. Both projects are to be executed within 24 months from their respective commencement dates, as reported by CNBC TV18.
Following these contract wins, Welspun Michigan Engineers' order book has increased from approximately ₹2,135 crore to around ₹2,432.66 crore as of June 2026. According to the company's exchange filing, this represents an addition of around ₹297.66 crore, excluding GST and provisional sums. The Western Ahmedabad project is also one of the largest standalone orders secured by WMEL through its standalone bidding capacity, with the formal work order communication reaching WMEL after 11 am on September 19, 2026.
Shares of Welspun Enterprises ended 5.7% higher at ₹823.35 on the NSE on Friday, September 18. As reported by CNBC TV18, the stock has gained 42.4% over the past month and 59.4% so far this year. The trading window for designated persons involved in the project was closed from September 19 to 22, 2026, as per the regulatory filing.
According to Sandeep Garg, Managing Director of Welspun Enterprises, these orders mark a significant milestone for WMEL's growth in the rehabilitation segment and reinforce its capabilities in addressing complex urban infrastructure requirements. As reported by CNBC TV18, the wins are aligned with the company's focus on selectively expanding in specialised segments where engineering expertise is a key differentiator. The projects are part of India's urban water and wastewater infrastructure sector receiving increased capital allocation under central and state government programmes, including the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) framework.
