The Rajasthan state government has allocated ₹68.30 crore to strengthen rural road networks, according to Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari. The amount has been sanctioned to construct rural roads spanning around 151.75 km across five legislative assembly constituencies. As reported by Business Standard, Kumari, who also holds the Public Works Department (PWD) portfolio, prioritises strengthening the state's road network and stated that infrastructure development holds the highest priority in the state.
Under the approvals issued by the PWD, construction and development works will be undertaken across five assembly constituencies. The Jhalrapatan Assembly constituency in Jhalawar district will receive the largest allocation with 21 roads spanning 51.05 km at ₹30 crore. The Nawalgarh Assembly constituency in Jhunjhunu district will see 26 roads spanning 31.15 km for ₹10 crore. Other constituencies include Bhopalgarh Assembly constituency (Jodhpur district) with a 5 km road at ₹8.30 crore, Rajgarh-Laxmangarh Assembly constituency (Alwar district) with 19 roads spanning 33.55 km for ₹10 crore, and Jaitaran Assembly constituency (Beawar district) with 12 roads spanning 31 km at ₹10 crore.
According to Kumari's statement reported by Business Standard, the development of rural roads will establish new dimensions of progress within the state and generate fresh opportunities for economic growth. She emphasized that road construction will bolster connectivity in rural areas, enabling residents to derive greater benefits from government schemes. The Deputy Chief Minister noted that implementing the Budget announcement for the year 2026-27, the PWD granted in-principle approval for these 79 rural road construction projects across the state.
This allocation is part of the state government's comprehensive road network strengthening initiative. As reported by Business Standard, earlier in May, the state's PWD approved 77 road construction and upgradation projects of over ₹676 crore. Under this plan, over 686 km of roads will be strengthened through these projects, with greater focus given to state highways, major district roads, local roads, and rural roads. The combined initiatives represent a significant investment in the state's transportation infrastructure for the 2026-27 fiscal year.
