The Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority (GIDA) has secured a 2,000-acre industrial township in Dhuriapar, significantly expanding Gorakhpur's industrial footprint. According to reports from Business Standard, this strategic development is located between the Purvanchal Expressway and the Gorakhpur Link Expressway, ensuring seamless logistics connectivity for industrial operations. The new township represents a substantial addition to GIDA's existing portfolio, which already includes 3,600 acres of industrial area that is approaching saturation capacity.
The Dhuriapar industrial township has already attracted significant corporate interest, with 115 acres already allotted to companies including Adani and Shreyas Distilleries. As reported by Business Standard, this allocation signals robust investor confidence in the region's industrial potential. The 2,000-acre land bank represents a major expansion of Gorakhpur's industrial capabilities, positioning the district as an emerging manufacturing and investment hub in Eastern UP.
Since 2017, GIDA has achieved substantial growth in industrial investments and employment generation. According to GIDA Chief Executive Officer Anuj Malik, reported by Business Standard, the authority has garnered ₹20,000 crore in investments and generated 40,000 employment opportunities during this period. Currently, more than 50,000 people are working in various technical, skilled, and semi-skilled roles across industries operating within GIDA's jurisdiction. The growing industrial base is creating significant opportunities for local talent, with nearly 70% of the workforce in major projects comprising people from Gorakhpur division and other parts of Purvanchal.
Beyond physical infrastructure development, GIDA is implementing comprehensive digital systems to facilitate faster and more transparent investment processes. As reported by Business Standard, the authority is transitioning from Nivesh Mitra 2.0 to Nivesh Mitra 3.0, which provides entrepreneurs access to 21 online services for approvals, incentives, and other requirements. The One Map portal enables investors to view available land parcels, access tagged land information, and participate in transparent e-auctions. These digital initiatives are designed to position Gorakhpur and Purvanchal as a competitive destination for manufacturing, employment, and industrial growth in eastern Uttar Pradesh.
