The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) has announced plans to launch an artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled multilingual campaign on WhatsApp and other digital platforms to disseminate verified information on safe investing practices, according to its annual report. The initiative forms part of the markets regulator's comprehensive digital transformation agenda for 2026-27. The campaign will focus on spreading verified information about safe investing practices, identification of fraudulent schemes, and investor grievance redressal mechanisms. As reported by Business Standard, Sebi Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey emphasized that individual investor empowerment remains at the centre of the regulator's work, highlighting Project Jagrook as a national campaign bringing together Sebi, market infrastructure institutions (MIIs), AMFI and NISM through both physical and digital outreach.
Sebi will introduce fast-track Alternative Investment Fund launches and build a single-window clearance system for intermediaries associated with multiple market infrastructure institutions (MIIs), as announced by Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey. According to the annual report, these initiatives are designed to significantly reduce the compliance burden and make capital raising easier. The move is part of Sebi's wider push to improve ease of doing business in the securities market, with MIIs including stock exchanges, clearing corporations and depositories. The regulator will also introduce the Sebi Setu portal to ease compliance and reduce bureaucratic delays for market participants.
Sebi's agenda for the current financial year will focus on ease of doing business, market deepening, investor empowerment and digital transformation. As reported by Business Standard, the regulator plans to revamp the Sebi Investor website with an improved user interface, advanced search capabilities and easier access to information. The website enhancement aims to provide investors with a more user-friendly experience when accessing regulatory information and resources. According to ETMarkets, Sebi is developing long-term technology roadmaps for MIIs covering areas such as AI, machine learning, distributed ledger technology, cloud computing, tokenisation and quantum-safe systems.
Sebi will take up a pilot project for tokenisation of corporate bonds using distributed ledger technology to test whether such systems can improve settlement speed, operational efficiency and smart contract-based features in the bond market. As reported by ETMarkets, a working group will take a holistic and forward-looking view of the adoption of emerging technologies by market infrastructure institutions, including AI and machine learning, distributed ledger technology, cloud computing, SupTech and RegTech solutions, tokenisation and quantum-safe systems. This working group will prepare five- and 10-year technology road maps for these institutions to guide their technological evolution and ensure regulatory compliance with emerging financial technologies.
Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey stated that Sebi is preparing the market for quantum-era cybersecurity risks as financial markets become more dependent on high-speed technology, cloud systems, artificial intelligence and data-driven surveillance. The regulator's next phase will focus on faster capital mobilisation, simpler market access, stronger technology systems and wider investor awareness. According to ETMarkets, the aim of Project Jagrook is not just wider participation, but about responsible participation, helping investors ask the right questions, make informed choices and enter the market with confidence, not confusion.
