The official account of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi has debunked misleading viral posts on social media claiming that the 24th installment of PM-Kisan is Rs 4,000. According to reports from The Times of India, the official X account stated 'This claim is fake. No such official announcement has been made. Stay Alert!' The clarification comes as part of ongoing efforts to combat misinformation about the government's flagship farmer support scheme. As per latest reports, officials have explicitly clarified that the 24th installment is ₹2,000, not the misleading ₹4,000 being circulated on social media platforms.
Under the PM-Kisan scheme, all landholding farmers' families receive Rs 6,000 per annum per family, distributed as three equal installments of ₹2,000 each every four months. As reported by The Times of India, the scheme came into effect from December 1, 2018, and has provided monetary relief to small and medium farmers across India. The scheme is a Central Sector Scheme designed to provide income support for procuring agricultural inputs and domestic needs, with the entire financial liability borne by the Government of India. Until now, more than ₹4.47 lakh crore has been transferred to eligible beneficiaries in 23 installments under the PM-Kisan scheme, providing comprehensive monetary relief to farmers across the country.
According to the scheme guidelines, institutional landholders are not eligible for PM-Kisan benefits. Additionally, farmer families are excluded if one or more members belong to categories including former and present constitutional post holders, former and present ministers, serving government officers, professionals earning ₹10,000 or more, and those who paid income tax in the last assessment year. As reported by The Times of India, all such farmer families can approach the District Level Grievance Redressal Monitoring Committee for inclusion in the beneficiary list. The scheme specifically excludes former and present holders of constitutional posts, former and present ministers/state ministers, members of legislative assemblies, mayors of municipal corporations, chairpersons of district panchayats, serving or retired government officers, superannuated pensioners earning ₹10,000 or more, and professionals like doctors, engineers, lawyers, chartered accountants, and architects.
The government has established an exclusive Farmers' Corner on the PM-KISAN web-portal at www.pmkisan.gov.in with three separate facilities. According to The Times of India, farmers can register online through the 'New Farmer's Registration' link, edit Aadhaar details, and check beneficiary status using their Aadhaar number, bank account number, or registered mobile number. The scheme provides income support to supplement financial needs for agriculture and allied activities, with the entire financial liability borne by the Government of India. Thereafter, the data is processed through an established system for payment to ensure timely delivery of benefits to eligible beneficiaries.
