US companies have made significant investment commitments to India over the past six months, with estimated commitments exceeding $60 billion. According to Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, these commitments include major data center investments by technology giants Amazon and Google. Speaking at the annual leadership summit of the American Chamber of Commerce, Goyal emphasized that India and the US are natural partners complementing each other across multiple sectors including technology innovation, high precision defense, digital data centers, quantum computing, and medical devices.
As reported by Goyal, the partnership between India and the US is strengthened by mutual trust and shared economic interests. India offers a trusted framework, scale, and talent that is unmatched globally, providing American companies with a reliable platform for innovation and growth. The Minister highlighted that India consistently demonstrates respect for intellectual property rights while delivering high-quality output on time, making it an attractive destination for global investment.
India's economic outlook remains robust with growth forecast upgraded from 6.4% to 6.5% despite global challenges including the Ukraine conflict and West Asia crisis. According to Goyal, India will continue to be the world's fastest-growing economy for at least the next 25 years. The country currently hosts 2,117 global capability centres employing approximately 2.35 million people directly and generating nearly $98 billion in revenue.
The government has launched coordinated efforts involving the MSME Ministry and the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade to support technology upgradation and skill development for MSMEs. As reported by Goyal, the proposed Export Promotion Mission will help MSMEs secure globally recognized certifications necessary to become part of international supply chains. Agencies including the Export Inspection Council, Bureau of Indian Standards, and FSSAI are working together to build world-class testing and quality infrastructure across India.
