The Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) has launched an AI-powered grievance redressal platform called 'Pension Sahayak' to enhance pension services accessibility. As reported by Mint, the platform brings together multiple pension service touchpoints into a single digital ecosystem, designed to improve grievance handling, accessibility and accountability. The system supports 22 Indian languages and enables subscribers to file grievances using voice-based interactions through integration with Bhashini. The platform is accessible via web, mobile, and WhatsApp, making it more convenient for subscribers to access pension-related services. The system combines the principles of accessibility, transparency and accountability envisaged under the Centre's NextGen CPGRAMS with specialized pension-sector workflows, multilingual citizen interaction, integrated grievance handling and AI-enabled supervisory capabilities. The new portal addresses key challenges faced by pension subscribers under the earlier grievance management system, including subscribers can now log in using their mobile number and OTP without the need to remember PRAN credentials. Multiple PRANs linked to a single mobile number are automatically displayed under one login, ensuring seamless access across pension accounts.
According to the PFRDA announcement, the platform is expected to particularly benefit senior citizens, rural subscribers and users who prefer communicating in regional languages. Subscribers can receive responses in their preferred language and access audio-based communication through the platform. The system includes an automated escalation mechanism under which complaints that remain unresolved within prescribed timelines will be escalated automatically to higher authorities, helping improve accountability and ensuring faster resolution. The AI-powered assistance system provides instant responses to queries and automatically categorises and routes grievances to the appropriate entity, reducing manual intervention. Subscribers can lodge grievances via text or voice, track status in real time, view resolution timelines, provide feedback, escalate unresolved grievances to NPS Trust with a single click, and file appeals to the Ombudsman digitally on the same ticket without separate submissions. The platform's conversational interface enables subscribers to access grievance-related services without the need to navigate complex processes or multiple service channels.
The initiative represents a significant technological upgrade, as stated by the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority. The platform is designed to improve grievance handling, accessibility and accountability within the pension sector, addressing the needs of diverse subscriber populations across India. The system incorporates cloud-native architecture, Artificial Intelligence and multilingual digital services to significantly improve service delivery standards while strengthening trust and transparency in pension grievance redressal. The platform utilises AI-driven analytics to assess the quality of grievance resolution, identify recurring operational and technical issues, detect emerging trends, and generate actionable insights for the continuous improvement of subscriber services and regulatory supervision. The platform serves as a governance and supervisory tool for PFRDA, offering real-time dashboards, centralised monitoring, advanced analytics, and actionable insights. It enables monitoring of grievance volumes and escalation trends, AI-based assessment of resolution quality, automated identification of recurring issues, performance evaluation of intermediaries, and evidence-based policy interventions through analytics-driven insights. The platform replaces the earlier Central Grievance Management System (CGMS) and combines advanced technology with specialized pension-sector workflows to create a more efficient grievance-handling framework, aligning with the government's broader push toward digital transformation in service delivery.
As per Mint, the portal incorporates automated escalation features to ensure complaints are addressed within prescribed timelines, thereby enhancing accountability across the pension ecosystem. Apart from serving as a grievance redressal mechanism, Pension Sahayak will function as a regulatory oversight tool, providing the authority with real-time dashboards, analytics and AI-driven insights. These features will help identify recurring issues, monitor grievance trends, assess intermediary performance and support data-driven policy decisions. The regulator said the launch marks a major step towards citizen-centric digital governance and is expected to improve transparency, efficiency and trust in pension services through the use of emerging technologies and multilingual digital infrastructure. The launch reinforces the Government's vision of leveraging digital public infrastructure and emerging technologies to deliver efficient, transparent and citizen-centric public services, contributing significantly to strengthening trust, accountability and responsiveness across the pension ecosystem while advancing the broader objectives of Digital India and technology-enabled governance.
