Paytm has launched a comprehensive partnership with CaratLane that enables users to redeem their Paytm Digital Gold holdings towards jewellery purchases directly through the Paytm application. According to Veer Mishra, Vice President at Paytm, the collaboration introduces jewellery shopping on Paytm with CaratLane to extend Paytm Digital Gold from saving to jewellery purchases. The partnership combines Paytm's payments and digital gold capabilities with CaratLane's jewellery expertise and fulfilment network, creating an integrated jewellery purchase journey while adding a new commerce use case for Paytm Digital Gold. As reported by ANI, the move effectively connects Paytm's digital savings proposition with physical jewellery consumption, creating an integrated journey from accumulating gold digitally to using those holdings for jewellery purchases.
The partnership offers CaratLane designs across rings, earrings, pendants, necklaces, bangles and bracelets, among other jewellery categories. As reported by Saumen Bhaumik, Managing Director at CaratLane, the collaboration allows millions of Digital Gold holders to effortlessly convert their savings into timeless CaratLane designs. The catalogue features rings, earrings, pendants, necklaces, bangles and bracelets across everyday wear, gifting, weddings, festivals and other occasions. Pricing, including applicable making charges and GST, is shown before purchase, providing clarity on the total payable amount. Paytm enables saving in digital gold and silver through one-time purchases as well as daily, weekly and monthly SIPs, with Paytm Digital Gold being 24K pure gold fulfilled by MMTC-PAMP.
Under the partnership structure, customers can browse and purchase CaratLane jewellery directly through the Paytm platform using their Digital Gold holdings. Any remaining balance required for the purchase can be settled through multiple payment methods including Paytm UPI, credit cards, debit cards, net banking, and other available payment options. The process involves opening the Paytm app, accessing the jewellery section, browsing the catalogue, selecting preferred designs, redeeming available Paytm Gold, paying using other payment options, confirming delivery address, and tracking orders directly through the Paytm app. CaratLane will manage packaging, fulfilment and home delivery across its serviceable pin codes, while customers will be able to track orders through Paytm. This represents part of a broader trend where jewellery companies are innovating with payment methods, offering flexible options like digital gold, monthly savings plans, old-gold exchanges, and zero-cost EMI schemes to make buying jewelry less stressful and more accessible.
The collaboration represents a strategic move to enhance the utility and accessibility of digital gold investments for Paytm's user base. According to CaratLane's leadership, the partnership bridges the gap between digital wealth creation and physical luxury, giving customers total freedom over how they spend and sparkle. Digital gold and silver purchases attract applicable GST but do not carry making/wastage charges unlike jewellery purchases, offering a simple way to build precious metal holdings over time. The partnership provides an additional online channel for CaratLane to showcase its products and potentially reach Paytm's large consumer base. CaratLane manages packaging, fulfilment and home delivery across its serviceable pin codes, while order confirmation, tracking and purchase details are available on Paytm. This innovation aligns with the broader industry trend where brands are rolling out flexible options like digital gold, monthly savings plans, old-gold exchanges, and zero-cost EMI schemes to make owning some sparkle easier on wallets.
