Mint Money, the fintech app from the Hindustan Times Group, announced the launch of its app with Bill Payments, powered by Bharat Connect, at Global Fintech Fest 2026 in Mumbai on September 10, 2026. According to reports from Livemint and Hindustan Times, this launch represents an important expansion of Mint Money's proposition, bringing together trusted financial content, financial tools and now bill payments to help Indians make the right money decisions. The collaboration marks a significant milestone as it is the first of its kind in India's news media space and is being undertaken with one of the country's largest and most trusted media groups. As per Hindustan Times, the launch marks a 'new chapter in how India manages money' and brings together the journey from building and understanding credit profiles to managing everyday payments in one experience.
With the new Bill Payments feature, users can track their bills, receive timely reminders and make payments directly within the Mint Money app. As reported by Livemint and Hindustan Times, the experience enables instant settlement, Auto Pay and rewards on bill payments, bringing convenience and better money management together in one place. The feature is powered by Bharat Connect, the Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS) ecosystem operated by NPCI Bharat BillPay Limited (NBBL). Puneet Jain, CEO - Digital, HT Media Group, emphasized that this expansion takes the mission into everyday money management, helping users understand what they are paying for, why it matters and make payments with greater confidence. He noted that access to financial instruments has become easy for the masses—credit, investment and insurance are everywhere, but what's missing is guidance on what's actually right for you.
The platform introduces digital loan services ranging from ₹5,000 to ₹20 lakh without collateral or paperwork through lending partners including Akara Capital Advisors Private Limited (Stashfin), Aditya Birla Finance Limited, Si Creva Capital Services Private Limited (Kissht), Credit Saison India Private Limited (Credit Saison), SMFG India Credit Company Limited (SMFG), and EarlySalary Services Private Limited (Fibe). Users can check their credit score, understand the factors shaping it, and receive personalised guidance to improve their credit health. Based on their profile, they can explore personal loan offers, compare interest rates, and calculate equated monthly instalments (EMI) through an in-app tool. The launch comes amid a surge in digital borrowing, with a Redseer report estimating the digital lending market expanded from ₹15,000 crore in fiscal year 2021 (FY21) to ₹2.2 trillion in FY26, and is set to grow 26-27% annually until FY31.
The app features an artificial intelligence (AI) coach, Money Guru, which explains changes in credit scores and suggests ways to improve them. Puneet Jain, CEO - Digital, HT Media Group, explained that the app aims to merge 'the news, the numbers and the action'. He noted that typically, users will read financial content on Mint in the morning, then seek YouTube videos to understand impacts, spending time sifting through which financial content is actually credible. The broader goal is to make financial management habitual, with Mint Money wanting to earn its place in people's habit of money. By linking bill payments, loans, and financial insights, Mint Money positions itself as a daily-use platform—one that seeks to turn financial literacy into financial action.
