According to latest reports from The Hindu, the 30-share BSE Sensex climbed 130.49 points, or 0.17%, to settle at 77,185.43, while during the day it jumped 591.33 points, or 0.76%, to 77,646.27. The 50-share NSE Nifty went up 26.45 points, or 0.11%, to end at 24,078.50, as investors booked profits amid renewed concerns over escalating US-Iran tensions and rising crude oil prices. From the Sensex pack, Eternal, UltraTech Cement, State Bank of India, Bajaj Finance, InterGlobe Aviation, and Asian Paints were among the major winners, while Power Grid, Larsen & Toubro, Tata Steel, and Infosys were among the laggards. Broader markets outperformed significantly, with the BSE 150 MidCap Index rising 0.55% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index jumping 0.69%, led by gains in stocks including Hind Rectifiers, Filatex, MTAR Tech and HFCL. Market breadth remained positive with advances outnumbering declines on the BSE, where 2,297 shares rose and 1,974 shares fell, while the NSE's India VIX declined 3.49% to 13.27, indicating reduced volatility expectations.
Tata Elxsi Ltd. share price declined 4.44% after the company's April-June quarter results for FY27 failed to meet market expectations, with the sequential fall in profit weighing on the stock despite year-on-year growth in earnings and revenue. As reported by The Financial Express, net profit came in at ₹170.6 crore, up 18.2% YoY from ₹145.1 crore in the preceding quarter, while revenue from core operations increased 14.5% sequentially to ₹1,021.1 crore. Europe remained the company's largest market with a 42.2% contribution to the revenue mix, followed by the Americas at 31.7%, India at 16.4% and the rest of the world at 9.7%.
L&T Technology Services emerged as the standout performer, jumping 6.50% after reporting strong Q1 FY27 results with consolidated net income from continuing operations increasing 17.4% YoY and 1.5% QoQ to ₹351.8 crore, while revenue rose 11.5% YoY and 2.9% QoQ to ₹2,940.1 crore. Fedbank Financial Services surged 7.52% after reporting standalone net profit rising 52.49% to ₹114.38 crore in Q1 FY27, with revenue from operations increasing 29.68% YoY to ₹669.93 crore. Billionbrains Garage Ventures (Groww) jumped 6.46% after reporting net profit increasing 94.28% YoY to ₹735 crore with revenue rising 66.01% YoY to ₹1,501 crore. However, Aditya Birla Money declined 8.82% despite revenue from operations rising 16% YoY to ₹130.77 crore, while Den Networks fell 4.42% after reporting a 35.52% decline in consolidated net profit to ₹34.59 crore.
Nifty Bank (up 1.13%) and Nifty Financial Services (up 1.32%) were the key performers, led by gains in ICICI Bank, SBI, and HDFC Bank. As reported by The Financial Express, Bandhan Bank share price gained 4.55% and moved close to its 52-week high as buying activity strengthened in the private-sector lender, with around 60.13 lakh shares changing hands during the morning session. IDBI Bank share price jumped more than 4% after reports suggested that the government was close to accepting an offer from Fairfax Financial Holdings for the disinvestment-bound lender, with more than 3.1 crore shares changing hands as trading activity increased sharply. Public sector banks emerged as the top performers with the Nifty PSU Bank index rising nearly 1% amid renewed buying interest in the segment.
Brent crude, the global oil benchmark, went up 0.90% to $85.50 per barrel, with investor sentiment turning cautious as concerns over potential disruptions to global energy supplies weighed on markets. In Asian markets, South Korea's Kospi jumped 6.24 per cent, Japan's Nikkei 225 index and Hong Kong's Hang Seng index also ended higher, while Shanghai's SSE Composite index settled lower. European markets were quoting lower, while U.S. markets ended higher on Tuesday (July 14, 2026). Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) offloaded equities worth ₹739.69 crore on Tuesday (July 14, 2026), according to exchange data. On Tuesday (July 14), the Sensex tanked 561.46 points, or 0.72%, to settle at 77,054.94, while the Nifty dropped 158.95 points, or 0.66%, to end at 24,052.05, highlighting the volatility in recent sessions. Softer U.S. inflation data supported sentiment, with U.S. consumer prices falling 0.4% month-on-month in June and annual inflation easing to 3.5% from 4.2% in May, reinforcing expectations that the Federal Reserve may adopt a less aggressive monetary policy stance in the coming months.
