The Indian stock market will remain closed for a total of eight days in July 2026, with no weekday holidays scheduled. According to reports from NDTV Profit, both the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) will operate as usual on all trading days and will remain closed only on regular weekends. The stock market will remain closed for four Saturdays and four Sundays throughout the month, with no public holidays falling on weekdays. As per the latest reports, trading in the equity, equity derivatives, currency derivatives, and Securities Lending and Borrowing (SLB) segments on both exchanges will remain suspended on these days.
The weekend closure pattern for July 2026 includes Sundays on July 5, 12, 19 and 26, and Saturdays on July 4, 11, 18, and 25. As reported by NDTV Profit, since there are no public holidays falling on weekdays, trading will continue uninterrupted on all working days. This represents a standard weekend closure pattern for the Indian stock exchanges during July, with the markets remaining closed on July 4, July 5, July 11, July 12, July 18, July 19, July 25, and July 26. The BSE and NSE will be closed on all these days as these are regular weekly market holidays across the country. According to the holiday calendar released by the National Stock Exchange, apart from regular weekend holidays, there are no specific trading holidays for the Indian stock markets in July, ensuring normal operations on all other working days of the month.
Banks across several Indian states will observe additional closures beyond the standard weekend holidays in July 2026. According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday calendar, banks in Sikkim will remain closed on July 18, 2026 to celebrate Drukpa Tshe-zi, an auspicious Buddhist festival commemorating Lord Buddha's first sermon at Deer Park in Sarnath. Mizoram banks will be closed on July 6 for Mizo Hmeichhe Insuihkhawm Pawl (MHIP) Day, the state's largest women's welfare organisation. Meghalaya banks will observe closures on July 9 for Beh Deinkhlam, the most prominent annual cultural and religious festival of the Pnar (Jaintia) tribe, and on July 17 for the death anniversary of U Tirot Singh. Odisha, Uttarakhand, and Manipur banks will be closed on July 16 for Ratha Yatra/Kang (Rathajatra) and Harela festivals. Tripura banks will remain closed on July 22 for the Kharchi Puja festival in Agartala, which centers around worship of 14 ancestral deities. Banks in India will remain closed for a total of 12 days in July 2026, including weekends and festivals, with physical branch operations affected on these days, but online banking services continuing to operate smoothly.
Despite the extensive bank closures, customers can continue accessing essential banking services through digital channels. According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), customers should note that although branches will remain closed on the above-mentioned dates, digital banking services will continue to operate normally. Internet banking, mobile banking, Unified Payments Interface (UPI), debit and credit card services, along with ATMs, will remain accessible for daily transactions. This ensures that while physical branch operations are affected, customers can still conduct essential banking activities and make payments through digital platforms. As per Business Standard, customers are advised to find out the exact bank holiday by getting in touch with their local bank offices, as these services work around the clock whether banks are open or not, though they can occasionally be unavailable due to planned maintenance. For time-sensitive transactions, using NEFT, RTGS, IMPS, or UPI is recommended to avoid delays, as these services operate round the clock, including on all gazetted holidays.
According to the NSE holiday calendar, the next trading holiday will be on Monday, September 14 on account of Ganesh Chaturthi. Unlike the stock market, banks in various Indian cities will observe several holidays in July 2026, with a total of 12 days including weekends and festivals according to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) calendar. Just like July and August, there are no trading holidays in August other than weekends, though markets will be closed on several occasions later in the year due to national and religious festivals.
