The NSE's India VIX added 1.41% to 12.33, indicating increased market volatility expectations.
The Nifty IT index rose 0.58% to 31,729.10, extending gains for the second consecutive trading session with a 2% rally over two sessions. As reported by Business Standard, leading IT stocks showed mixed performance with LTM up 2.83%, Coforge up 1.60%, Mphasis up 1.34%, Tech Mahindra up 0.76%, Infosys up 0.75%, Persistent Systems up 0.37%, and HCL Technologies up 0.30%. However, Oracle Financial Services Software declined 0.91%, Wipro fell 0.6%, and Tata Consultancy Services dropped 0.29%. The Nifty option chain for 25 August 2026 expiry showed maximum call OI of 211.9 lakh contracts at the 24,600 strike price and maximum put OI of 270.8 lakh contracts at the 24,600 strike price.
Titan Company jumped 3.02% after reporting exceptional Q1 FY27 results with consolidated profit after tax increasing 62.9% YoY to ₹1,777 crore, supported by total income rising 29.3% YoY to ₹21,502 crore. Sky Gold and Diamonds rallied 8.42% after the company's consolidated net profit surged 136.94% to ₹103.28 crore in Q1 FY27 compared with ₹43.59 crore in Q1 FY26, with revenue from operations increasing 77.93% YoY to ₹2,012.79 crore. Universal Cables hit the upper circuit of 20% after reporting net profit increasing 108.8% YoY to ₹70.14 crore with revenue rising 57.5% YoY to ₹945.06 crore, marking the company's highest-ever Q1 turnover. Oil India rallied 2.30% after reporting standalone net profit soaring 252.83% YoY to ₹2,870.21 crore, supported by higher crude oil production and improved crude oil price realization, while Kaynes Technology India fell 3.14% despite reporting consolidated net profit of ₹56.43 crore in Q1 FY27.
Wednesday's earnings session delivered contrasting results across sectors, with Tata Motors leading the day with profit surging 83% even as revenue came under sequential pressure, while commercial vehicle wholesales grew 26% year-on-year and the company generated ₹1,100 crore in free cash flow. Hindustan Aeronautics delivered another strong showing with profit rising 14.7% to ₹1,580 crore and revenue growing 14.4% to ₹5,515 crore, both ahead of estimates, with EBITDA margin expanding to 27.7% from 26.6% a year ago. Lenskart added to the strong performance with profit nearly quadrupling to ₹222 crore as revenue grew more than 43%, while Grasim Industries posted broad-based growth with profit rising 51% and revenue increasing more than 21%. However, Jyothy Labs faced challenges with shares falling 5% after profit nearly halved and EBITDA dropped almost 48%, despite modest revenue increase, while Senco Gold fell 10% even as revenue surged 67% due to margin pressure from rising gold prices.
