According to reports from Business Standard, the market showed resilience after an early slide, with broader market indices also declining. The BSE 150 MidCap Index dropped 0.23% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index fell 0.43%. Market breadth remained negative with 1,958 shares rising and 2,326 shares falling on the BSE, while 235 shares remained unchanged.
Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles led the decline, dropping 4.32% after reporting a sharp 80.25% decline in consolidated net profit to ₹775 crore in Q1 FY27 compared with ₹3,924 crore posted in Q1 FY26. As reported by Business Standard, State Bank of India declined 1.41% and Reliance Industries fell 0.53%. Other notable decliners included Zee Entertainment Enterprises and LG Electronics India.
Several companies reported strong quarterly performance, with Galaxy Surfactants hitting the upper circuit of 20% after reporting a 108.7% YoY increase in net profit to ₹165.9 crore in Q1 FY27. According to Business Standard, LG Electronics India surged 10% with profit after tax increasing 27.20% YoY to ₹652.90 crore. KMC Speciality Hospitals jumped 7.01% after reporting a 119.9% increase in net profit to ₹16.57 crore for Q1 FY27. Other strong performers included Honasa Consumer and Praj Industries, which rallied 4.70% and 4.18% respectively.
According to Business Standard, India's wholesale prices rose 9.78% YoY in July 2026, easing marginally from a 9.87% increase in June. The US Dollar Index (DXY) was down 0.24% to 99.61, while the US 10-year bond yield fell 0.30% to 4.655. Global markets showed mixed performance with most European indices declining amid US threats against Iran, while Asian markets ended higher on Friday. Brent crude for October 2026 settlement rose 14 cents to $87.21 per barrel, and the rupee edged higher against the dollar to 95.4200.
