
The National Stock Exchange has announced comprehensive changes across multiple Nifty indices, with changes effective September 30, 2026. This represents one of the largest periodic restructurings of the Nifty family of indices, affecting both large-cap and mid-cap segments. The rejig includes significant changes to flagship indices like Nifty50 Value 20 and Nifty Alpha 50, as well as thematic indices such as Nifty EV & New Age Automotive.
In the Nifty50 Value 20, Wipro Ltd will be excluded from the index following its removal from the Nifty 50, with Dr. Reddy's Laboratories taking its place. The Nifty Alpha 50 undergoes the most significant transformation, dropping seven stocks including Amber Enterprises, Anand Rathi Wealth, Delhivery, Fortis Healthcare, HDFC AMC, Max Financial Services and Muthoot Finance. Simultaneously, seven new entrants join the index: Cupid, HFCL, Kirloskar Oil Engines, MTAR Technologies, Sterlite Technologies, TD Power Systems and Welspun Corp.
The Nifty High Beta 50 sees eight stocks exit including HUDCO, IREDA, Motilal Oswal Financial Services, MCX, NBCC, Power Finance Corporation, Tata Steel and Ujjivan Small Finance Bank. In their place, eight stocks enter: Ambuja Cements, Bajaj Finance, Bank of Maharashtra, GMR Airports, Larsen & Toubro, MTAR Technologies, Redington and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles. The Nifty Low Volatility 50 excludes Colgate Palmolive, Dabur India, IRCTC, Infosys and MRF, while Coal India, Havells India, ONGC, Tata Power and Zydus Lifesciences replace them.
The Nifty EV & New Age Automotive index drops L&T Technology Services and Minda Corporation, while adding Sansera Engineering. The Nifty India Consumption index excludes Adani Power and Havells India, with Fortis Healthcare and Torrent Pharmaceuticals joining. The Nifty MidSmall India Consumption index drops Abbott India, Kalyan Jewellers, Patanjali Foods and Vodafone Idea, adding Indian Hotels, Lenskart Solutions, Lodha Developers and United Spirits. The Nifty India Defence index adds Centum Electronics, Sigma Advanced Systems and Unimech Aerospace and Manufacturing with no exclusions.
The Nifty500 Ahimsa index undergoes a major restructuring with 17 stocks excluded and 26 new stocks included, reflecting its periodic re-screening for animal-welfare and ethical criteria. In the Nifty REITs & Realty index, Sobha Ltd is excluded while Bagmane Prime Office REIT is included. The Nifty REITs & InvITs index adds Bagmane Prime Office REIT and Cube Highways Trust with no exclusions. Among Shariah-compliant indices, the Nifty500 Shariah index excludes 16 stocks and includes 14 new ones following its monthly compliance review, while the Nifty Shariah 25 index remains unchanged.
