The BSE 150 MidCap Index rose 1.54% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index jumped 1.74%, while market breadth remained strong with 2,923 shares rising and 1,138 shares falling on the BSE, with 225 shares remaining unchanged. The NSE's India VIX fell 9.72% to 13.25, indicating reduced market volatility expectations.
The Nifty Realty index emerged as the top performer, gaining 3.54% to close at 906.95, demonstrating strong momentum with gains of 19% over the last one month. As reported by Business Standard, among individual constituents, Lodha Developers Ltd added 6.91%, Brigade Enterprises Ltd rose 6.22% and Anant Raj Ltd jumped 4.53%. The sector has shown remarkable recovery from a 3.45% decline in the past two trading sessions, with the Nifty Realty index falling 6.00% over the last one year compared to the 5.94% slide in benchmark Nifty 50 index. All sectoral indices in the NSE traded in green with realty, media and consumer durables shares leading the rally.
Premier Energies rallied 4.24% after inaugurating its 5.6 GW solar module manufacturing facility at Seetharampur, Telangana, breaking ground for a 6 GWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) facility and an 18,000 MT per annum aluminium frames plant. Insolation Energy zoomed 13.93% after receiving a contract worth ₹558.29 crore from NTPC Renewable Energy for solar photovoltaic module supply during FY 2026-27. Solex Energy jumped 2.21% after securing a work order worth ₹628.37 crore from a leading independent power producer for solar PV module supply between October 2026 and March 2027. The Phoenix Mills added 4.95% after reporting strong Q1 FY27 operational performance with consumption rising 32% year-on-year to ₹4,727 crore.
In other sectors, the Nifty Media index gained 2.09% and the Nifty PSU Bank index added 1.62% on the day, as reported by Business Standard. The broader market performance showed BSE 150 MidCap Index rising 1.54% and BSE 250 SmallCap Index jumping 1.74%, indicating strong participation across market capitalizations.
