
NSE Indices has announced the replacement of Gujarat Gas with Grindwell Norton in the Nifty Smallcap 500 index. According to reports from Business Standard, this change has been made following the demerger scheme involving Gujarat Gas. The revision will take effect from 1 July 2026, with the changes becoming effective after the close of trading on 30 June 2026.
Under the revision, Gujarat Gas will be excluded from the Nifty Smallcap 500 index, while Grindwell Norton will be included in its place. As reported by Business Standard, this change reflects the ongoing corporate restructuring involving Gujarat Gas and its demerger activities. The transition will be implemented during the regular trading session on 30 June 2026.
The replacement represents a significant change in the composition of the Nifty Smallcap 500 index, which tracks smaller companies in the Indian equity market. According to Business Standard, this change follows the completion of Gujarat Gas's demerger scheme, resulting in the removal of the gas utility from the index and the addition of Grindwell Norton in its place. The transition will be effective from 1 July 2026.
In related market developments, Electrosteel Castings rallied 3.05% to ₹82.31 following the announcement of operational resumption at its key facilities. The company successfully completed maintenance work at its Mini Blast Furnace (MBF) Production Facility at Khardah Works, West Bengal and resumed operations from 24th June 2026. Operations at the main plant resumed from 25th June 2026 after the completion of maintenance work. The company, which manufactures Ductile Iron pipes and Cast Iron pipes, had earlier shut down these facilities for approximately 10 days from 14th June 2026 for maintenance purposes.
