
Promoter Epsilon Bidco, owned by affiliates of the Blackstone Group, has exited EPL (earlier known as Essel Propack), the laminated plastic tubes manufacturer, for ₹1,985 crore through open-market transactions on September 1. According to bulk deals data published by the exchange, Epsilon Bidco Pte sold all its 8.44 crore equity shares, representing a 26.38 percent stake in EPL. The shares were sold at ₹240.57 apiece, valuing the stake at ₹2,032.33 crore. However, 3.37 crore equity shares, representing a 10.5 percent stake, of the total 8.44 crore shares sold by the Blackstone Group entity were bought by eight institutional investors.
Quant Mutual Fund emerged as the biggest buyer among institutional investors, picking up an additional 1.43 crore equity shares, equivalent to a 4.48 percent stake in EPL, for ₹345.07 crore. The Sandeep Tandon-founded Quant Group, through Quant Small Cap Fund, already held a 2.47 percent stake in EPL as of June 2026. Bandhan Mutual Fund also bought an additional 20.82 lakh shares, or a 0.65 percent stake in EPL, for ₹50 crore at a price of ₹240.1 per share. This was in addition to the 3.33 percent stake it held as of June 2026. Public Sector Pension Investment, ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund, Edelweiss Mutual Fund, Aditya Birla Sun Life Insurance Company, Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, and 360 ONE acquired the remaining 1.72 crore shares in EPL for ₹414.3 crore at a price of ₹240.1 per share.
EPL shares opened sharply lower following the deal and ended the session at ₹240.35, down 8.28 percent, amid heavy volumes on the National Stock Exchange. According to reports, BNP Paribas Financial Markets sold 10.19 lakh shares, representing a 0.66 percent stake, in digital engineering company Happiest Minds Technologies for ₹37.42 crore at a price of ₹367.23 per share. The stock price crashed 10.87 percent to ₹362.7, extending its downtrend for the fourth consecutive session, particularly after news of the company's merger with ITC Infotech. Additionally, TIMF Holdings, owned by US-based investment firm Think Investments, acquired 3.77 lakh shares, representing a 0.58 percent stake in Symbiotec Pharmalab, for ₹37.3 crore at a price of ₹989.2 per share. Symbiotec Pharmalab shares rallied 11.1 percent to ₹1,097.7 on the NSE, against the issue price of ₹988 per share.
Nexus Global Opportunities Fund picked up an additional 15 lakh shares, representing a 1.11 percent stake, in Wonder Electricals for ₹12.12 crore at a price of ₹80.84 per share. Nexus Global already held a 2.34 percent stake in Wonder Electricals as of June 2026. HDFC Life Insurance Company bought 73 lakh shares, representing a 0.65 percent stake, in non-banking finance company SBFC Finance for ₹73.73 crore at a price of ₹101 per share. Prudent Equity Ace Fund, owned by asset management firm Prudent Equity, purchased 6.15 lakh shares, representing a 0.93 percent stake, in flat and long metal products maker Manaksia Steels for ₹6.38 crore at a price of ₹103.83 per share. Manaksia Steels shares rose 4.6 percent to ₹104.1 amid heavy volumes on the NSE.
Promoter Chandramogan R G acquired 8.25 lakh shares, representing a 0.37 percent stake, in dairy products company Hatsun Agro Product from Ravi Kirti Shah for ₹98.34 crore at a price of ₹1,192 per share. Prudent Equity Ace Fund also bought 6.15 lakh shares, representing a 0.93 percent stake, in flat and long metal products maker Manaksia Steels for ₹6.38 crore at a price of ₹103.83 per share.
